According to the website your linked to they are not……

My bad - there are lots of different brands. I couldn’t find the name of the ones I used so posted Tapco as an illustration!
I don’t have any left off a roof to read the name as, ironically, I put the few left over in the recycling skip at the dump…

Exactly my point to the OP. We used to have to get all sorts of permissions especially for replacing velux style windows in properties, roof tiles where the originals like my own house had local hand cut slates but no longer available and generally all and any changes to exteriors. Nowadays they check by satellite and drones to make sure it is complying.

Replacing like with like?

Not only that but some communes demanded flush fittings especially where Monuments Historique were involved and it was normal in Brittany to have velux windows actually above the level of the roof slates, and if you wanted to make the opening larger, then full declaration is required. If you just replace like for like with no deviations then you need no permission.

Thanks Steve. Looks good will check it out,

If you are selling I presume you want to keep price down, so have you thought about bardeau? You get it in rolls and lay it out, but similar to the sheets you see in the Brico sheds. We had thought of it when redoing a workshop roof.

Thanks Jane. Looks good, I would have to factor in putting down more wood to support it as steel sheets would need less but definitely worth investigating.
