Taking a tumble dryer into France from UK

Thank you for the advice.

I am only there every couple of months, and leave everything switched on. So wil be sure to change the plugs on my next visit.

Not everybody feels relaxed about tinkering with electrical stuff. While you or I might have no qualms about changing a plug, some folks might not.

And I’m no electrician but I’ve seen some very dodgy “replaced plug” wiring in my time! Not to mention people using a 13A fuse for a 5A appliance.

Again to clarify, I am not advocating using such a device to power an array of washing machines or to recharge one’s collection of vintage Teslas, but for stuff like phone chargers, or my selection of battery-powered DIY tools that are charged by 12V wall-warts that have built-in UK plugs, I think it’s handy, especially for those folks who are not 100% based in France. And probably safer than using individual UK-EU adapters for each plug.

But I will not be introducing legislation to make their use compulsory.

Possibly.

When we first moved to France I used an adaptor for our kettle.

OK for a couple of months, then one day it caught fire.

After that incident I changed all our UK plugs to European ones compatible with both French and German sockets.
