Totally agree.
Agreed. As an example a cancer drug, paclitaxol was first produced from yew trees.
It has been in clinical trials and has known efficacy, and known side effects.
It has nothing at all to do with homeopathy.

Plants contain identifiable quantifiable substances which can kill you or just make you ill and sometimes cure you (yew, foxgloves, hemlock, deadly nightshade, wormwood, ergot ok fungus not plant but hey, and many many more) not to be compared with homoeopathic pills which are sugar.
Exactly…and we know how excess sugar can be bad for us! ![]()
It is a trick of nature, that we seem to be genetically predisposed to like sweet tastes. When we were hunter-gathers it was good to fill up on high energy food. Now we have so much available it is more of a problem to moderate intake of the nice stuff.
Read marketing department and food chemists in the past sweet fruit wasn’t as sweet but has been genetically engineered to make sweeter versions (cross breeding etc) also only available in short seasons and not 24/7, 363 days a year in supermarkets etc. however like any drug you crave a bit more and then a bit more and finally you loose the sense of what is real and seek out more sugary items.
Yes. I get my Ibruprofen 400 from my local pharmacie no problems. As much as you want.
Most important is to take ibuprofen with food or a glass of milk. They are NSIADS and I speak from experience when I say they will damage your stomach or kidneys if taken regularly long term. All NSIADS should be taken with food.
Any pharmacy in france sells them.
Naproxen is the worst of the NSIADS and the one that caused damage to me.
Not sure I agree Naproxen is the worst but generally one is given stomoach protectors alongside.
You need stomach protectors in order to take a medicine to make you better…hmm
Half the drugs I take are for the side effects of the other drugs. Didn t you have similar with your cancer drugs - anti nausea etc?
Sadly I was not given these for about a year which by then some damage was caused. However if you buy ibuprofen over the counter then by taking them with food it gives protection to the stomach. I’m not sure you can buy the medication for protection over the counter. But maybe now you can.
I can take Celecobix now but only for 4 days max with food.
Yes Jane, during the chemo which I now understand a lot more about but at the time was the best available treatment they gave me a cocktail of additional meds. I found the anti sickness meds to be near useless. I searched for things that worked for me and dropped several meds as a result. A bite of a nice crisp green apple took away the sickness almost immediately and the effect of a bite or two would last about 40-60 minutes and if the sickness feeling came back, same again with the apple. The other was the oral thrush ulcers which were incredibly painful and put me off wanting to eat anything which of course is bad during that treatment. I defaulted to bicarbonate of soda mouth rinsing and the thrush and ulcers cleared very quickly healing well over a weekend. The word “Maverick” is literally on my file notes and the oncologists said he had never seen the thrush and mouth ulcers heal so quickly but cannot prescribe that as a treatment. Interestingly a friend in france going through her treatment was advised to use bicarbonate of soda mouth rinsing, just shows how things are different in other countries treating the same ailments. Cost of the failed NHS med was £18 for a small bottle, think of the savings if they switched to something that did work. However as the professor explained bicarbonate of soda would never be trialled as no company would make any money. I wrote to UK cancer charities to mention what I had done and maybe they could sponsor a trial but none were interested. It does make one look at a bigger picture.
But what are people actually taking ibuprofen for long term?
Arthritis, tendinitis, carpel tunnel, rhymatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia to name a few. However anyone with a high CRP level of inflammation. I’ve been on NIADS for over 30 years. But take for 4 days then have a break for a week or longer if possible. They are good for managing pain for many high inflammation issues.
Not ibuprofen but other NSAID, etoricoxib on and off for around 15 years. Life happens and sometimes doesn’t follow rules.
Towards the end of her life my mother had a very wise young doctor.
My mother had rheumatoid arthritis and was on sulfasalazine and paracetamol for many years to try and control the pain. With time, the paracetamol became less and less effective as a pain killer, so Mum was on higher and higher doses.
In her eighties, the young doctor said, we’re stopping the paracetamol and I’m putting you on a low dose of morphine. If you become addicted to it in your eighties, so what? The improvement was instantaneous and she was largely pain free for her final years.
I agree but also feel the rules we have been given may not be optimal for health. Sadly the doctors are well trained on medication but not so well trained on nutrition.
Nothing, as long as you are prepared to spend money on something that would have happened anyway.
There is no supportable evidence to prove homeopathy works; the evidential gold standard is random double blind testing and not one trial has proven efficacy.
Homeopathy is based on near infinite dilution of a substance such as nux vomica (stychnine) even to a level where there is not one molecule of the substance present and the active ingredients is the “memory” of the molecule. There is no supportable evidence of the efficacy.
There have been some attempts to explain using theoretical physics why water has a memory, and these have included quantum entanglement, quantum nonlocality, the theory of relativity and chaos theory. Contrariwise, quantum superposition has been suggested to explain why homeopathy does not work in double-blind trials. As someone with a bit of knowledge of quantum and theoretical physics the above is way passed clutching at straws.
I think there is an interesting parallel in the way that acupuncture was viewed because western science and medicine have not “found” meridians. Wiki: “Scientists have found no evidence that supports their existence.” Yet these days there is an acceptance of real evidence that acupuncture is beneficial.
I would like to suggest that we are in a similar position with homeopathy. Better to focus on whether it is beneficial. I suggest it is.
