By the key shore?
Yes, I got one on Amazon a few months ago for my Peugeot Partner. Just took out the key blade, pcb and battery. Swapped to the new case and all works fine.
What make/model/year is the car ?
Renault Clio 111, BR1GO, 2008. The sizes shown for where the blade slides into the housing are too big - the blade will wobble from side to side. And the overall length and width of the housing are bigger than mine. And Iâve seen such comments from Amazon customers. It wonât be a tight fit.
What about this ? You could just use the plastic top piece and leave the rest.
Do you think that my existing blade, circuit board and battery wll fit? The screw in my key that holds it all together is longer than that shown in Key First.
Without dimensions itâs impossible to be 100% sure but you have a straight blade (just like mine) and it looks as though there is only one size of straight blade for that age of Clio. And the insides that I can see look very similar. As itâs only âŹ3.30 (donât know what postage is) itâs worth a punt.
Thinking over this key problem sparked a memory of my former Renault Clio, same model as my current car, and an old tin box full of miscellaneous keys. My former Clio was a right-off after we overturned into a road side ditch 18 years ago. I looked for and found the old tin box, and there it was, the spare key of my former Clio, and it fits â it works! All I had to do was exchange the circuit board and the key blade.
Howzat thenâŠ!?
Congratulations

Result ! It does go to show that all these old bits and bobs in tins do sometimes come in handy. Thatâs what I tell the OH anyway.
Better than that! Iâd been asked by the insurance company who insured the car when new, the one that overturned, if Iâd like a higher valuation in the event of a write-off for a small extra insurance fee. That extra went towards my current carpurchase a month later!
