Tempo couleur du jour - time to get the app

Gas! gas, that’s not BBQ’ing that’s just outdoor cooking. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Tory - I don’t envy you doing all the ironing from that lot. I’ve just put out my 4th washing load (1 hot wash, 1 coloureds, 1 30c and 1 hand wash) and I’m not looking forward to doing all the ironing. That’s one of my least favourite jobs (my favourite is hand washing).

Hope you enjoy your pizza tomorrow :pizza:

Don’t be ridiculous I don’t do ironing :rofl::rofl:. Life’s too short! We are 90% jeans and t-shirts family, I shake hard and hand flatten any creases and hang very carefully and fold directly off line into basket or fold directly from the dryer. This means no ironing required other than a few cotton shirts and a dress or 2 but they get done on a need to wear basis rather than after washing!

Nonsense , perfectly good method meaning you can do it every night if you want to. I don’t know a single Aussie that doesn’t have gas, I’m guessing fire restrictions may be one reason but also not as hot as melting over a fire!

I must admit that I don’t iron underwear - my late sister used to iron everything, even her tights! But I do iron Stuarts jeans/trousers and t-shirts and not all of my clothes get ironed. I do iron pillow-cases (not sheets) and duvet covers.

I had an aunt who worked in a laundry and I was always fascinated by how quickly she could iron a shirt or dress. And there was never a single crease (except where there should be). It takes me a bit longer than Auntie Pat but I like looking at the finished article.

My view entirely.

I would never buy any clothing that needed ironing, & nothing else needs it in my world.

Ironed bedding looks exactly the same as non-ironed bedding after one night.

I’m dumping Tempo at the beginning of next winter.

Mainly because of this idiocy. It was easily predictable 4-5 weeks earlier that they’d have a lot of days left.

Yet they didn’t take the option of allocating those days in a way that actually made the stated aims of Tempo achievable As they’ve run 5 days together 2x over, when it was totally unnecessary. The aim of Tempo being to get people to switch their consumption to non-Red days. But they didn’t provide any non-Red days to switch consumption to that were reachable. Some things can wait 2 or 3 days but definitely not 5.

It would have been perfectly plannable to leave say, the Wednesdays in those 2 weeks as non-Red days so that consumption for urgent things could be moved onto them. It just took planning and using those 2 days up late February or earlier March when it was clear no more red days would really be needed. If we (and the press) knew that at least 4 or 5 weeks ago then so did they so they had time.

So either they’re stupid incompetents or the aim of red days is now to fence the customer in and rip them off. At the almost 7- times multiplier of the normal electricity cost, on unnecessary red day after red day.

I find this indecent and, while I still just about think it’s due to imcompetence and lack of consideration rather than malice, I hate dealing with either incompetence or unfairness so they can stick their tariff.

Luckily won’t cost me much but it’s an amount I’m prepared to pay not to be their victim. I don’t think I’ll be alone in exiting Tempo next winter.

Agreed and I think it’s deliberate to get just that result. Customers were encouraged to go for Tempo and I think the campaign was too successful and with climate change there is less of an issue with overconsumption.

We actually worked out fine with the ten days as it’s been fairly warm here for most of it so the heating wasn’t doing anything and that’s our main consumer of electricity plus we moved things like the reading machine and dishwasher to 22h, which we don’t normally do on blue or white days. My wife has a fear of something going on fire but managed to overcome it for 70c per kWh.

Having said that, we have used the poêle for the last couple of days.

I haven’t done the sums yet but I’m pretty confident that we’ve still saved money and it hasn’t been particularly inconvenient.
