Iâm sure he doesnât.
David Lammy!
He thinks men can grow a cervix⌠:
Well, this is awkward, and on the day I decided to give up commenting on politics âŚ
He did, you know.
Not according to that article unless you close one eye, squint a bit and do a little twist. At worst, he dodged the question in the best political tradition.
How about a transcript of the interview (to my astonishment, the Guardian doesnât seem to have reported it)?
Here is a transcript of the exchange between Nick Ferrari and David Lammy on LBC Radio on September 28, 2021:
Nick Ferrari:
âIs it transphobic to say only women can have a cervix?â
David Lammy:
âI am not sure itâs transphobic, but itâs not accurate.â
Nick Ferrari:
âWhy?â
David Lammy:
âWell, a cervix, I understand, is something that you can have, following various procedures and hormone treatment and all the rest of it.â
Context
The exchange occurred during the Labour Party Annual Conference in Brighton in late September 2021. Broadcasters were questioning several Labour frontbenchers including Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves about the partyâs stance on trans rights, sex, and gender identity following public debate surrounding the issue.
I donât play in the culture wars bunkers so Iâm not aware of the goings on but I guess after a woman transitions to a man then theyâd retain the cervix.
Being serious for a moment, I think this was at the height of the trans silliness in the UK, when even Starmer wasnât prepared to say what a woman was.
The Supreme Court decision made it much easier to give a common sense reply!
The point was just to back up yours about education and levels of intelligence.
David Lammy studied law at Harvard..
Did you ever see him on Mastermind. ![]()
Same goes for Dianne Abbot, she went to Cambridge, but we would be here all day listing the stupid things she comes out with.
Indeed ! And with Dianne, even wearing matching shoes is not a given ![]()
