Think “Bien” Means “Good”? Not Quite…

A bit posh :rofl::rofl::rofl:

I agree, neutral but not boring!!

A bit posh in which?

I would assume English - RP - but I’m interested in what would be a posh French accent.

Maybe Morningside? :wink:

:joy:I don’t sound at all Scottish, never have even though I use the odd Scottish word or expression. That’s what I meant by neutral. In French I don’t have an accent du sud, although I’m from the Cote d’Azur.

When I returned to the UK after several years in a fairly posh S African university environment - my mashed-up accent was sometimes mistaken for Morningside. There’s a sort of clipped private school-educated English Capetonian that has some resemblance.

But, God knows what I sound like now!

Though I do know (and I blame my wife) that I say ‘thenks’ rather than ‘thanks’.

A Scottish schoolfriend of mine who has a lovely soft Fife accent is absolutely brilliant at doing the voices of 1940s English film actresses eg Celia Johnson, she is spot-on.
