Which is exactly why the Republican party, and Project 2025 both advocate the abolition of the U.S education department. Keep 'em dumb is a Repub goal. Lets not let 'em think too much.

I wonder if Trump has escape plans in mind if he loses the election. He must have such thoughts of losing. Or is he so sure that he’ll win, eventually, with the help of battleground state election shenanigans, and John Roberts & Co?
I wonder sometimes that he’ll skip the election and go hibernate somewhere where he can’t be extradited, when he senses or recognises a strong, increasingly irreversible trend for Kamala Harris.
Losing the election, and losing to a black Asian woman, would be a double whammy for him. Going to prison would make it a treble whammy, but prison might be his only salvation. He lost the election, he lost to a black Asian woman and went to jail, and he could then claim to be the ultimate victim and not a loser.
He’s in a bit of a pickle IMO!
Marc Elias is a democrat election lawyer who challenges numerous republican lawsuits seeking to change current election procedures. For example, republicans wanted to abolish rules that protect voters and election workers from intimidation and harassment, that such rules are unconstitutional. Astounding!
He talks about the proud-MAGA-republicans and the scared-MAGA-republicans!

It is essential that right to the wire there is not sense of certainty or sense of complacency by anyone - least of all the media.

The choice is stark. The United States cannot endure another four years of Donald Trump. He is an agent of chaos, an enemy of liberal democracy, and a threat to America’s moral standing in the world. Kamala Harris – who has shown herself to be sensible, humane, and liberal minded – is our choice for the Presidency.

The Only Patriotic Choice for President
It is hard to imagine a candidate more unworthy to serve as president of the United States than Donald Trump. He has proved himself morally unfit for an office that asks its occupant to put the good of the nation above self-interest. He has proved himself temperamentally unfit for a role that requires the very qualities – wisdom, honesty, courage, restraint, humility, discipline – that he most lacks.
Those disqualifying characteristics are compounded by everything else that limits his ability to fulfil the duties of the presidency: his many criminal charges, his advancing age, his fundamental lack of interest in policy and his increasingly bizarre cast of associates.
This unequivocal, dispiriting truth – Donald Trump is not fit to be president – should be enough for any voter who cares about the health of our country and the stability of our democracy to deny him re-election.
For this reason, regardless of any political disagreements voters might have with her, Kamala Harris is the only patriotic choice for president.
Ms Harris is clearly the better choice. She has committed to using the power of her office to help Americans better afford the things they need, to make it easier to own a home, to support small businesses and to help workers. Beyond the economy, Ms Harris promises to continue working to expand access to health care and reduce its cost.
She has a long record of fighting to protect women’s health and reproductive freedom. Globally, Ms Harris would work to maintain and strengthen the alliances with like-minded nations that have long advanced American interests abroad and maintained the nation’s security.
A second Trump term would be much more damaging and divisive than the first. Kamala Harris is the only choice.
There is something wrong with the rest of America’s main line media, which is not reporting what is obvious, and that fault IMO doesn’t lie with the journalists.

The problem with Trump is that his supporters don’t care - they are either incapable of seeing why he is a disaster waiting to happen, positively want a disruptive POTUS or think there is an edge they can exploit - appeals to rationality are going to swing few voters (not that I think efforts should be abandoned - every last vote against him is needed).
Democrats do need to go and vote on November 5 - every last one of them.

I understand that if every American voter, voted, it would result in a Democrat win every time, simply because there are more democrat voters than there are republication voters. Which is why the Republican Party tries to suppress/reduce the Democrat vote, as in the swing state shenanigans, of which there are a hundred or so, apparently, being contested in court!
You are right – the Democratic Party must, as I’ve said elsewhere, bring on a massive surge of energy to get their voters out to vote, but at the same time win their legal challenges in court.
It’s going to be rough!
They also gerrymander the vote by rejigging and creating strange district boundaries that try to dilute the democrat vote by splitting democrat areas in states into many pieces along with larger republican areas. Some of the district maps created look bizarre.
I’m coming to believe, gut feeling, that the recent former Republican Party was corrupt, and I see the new MAGA Party as weak, more corrupt and dangerous, with a malignant narcissist leading it. A leader and a party doing everything and anything conceivable to win.
MAGA senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina went to Nebraska (which has 1 electoral vote), to try to persuade them to change their electoral system, which if they had done so, could have tied the USA election to 269 electoral votes each, if the race was extremely close – it could happen.
Constitutionally, Trump could then be made President via the MAGA-run House of Representatives. And Tim Walz could be made VP by the Democrat-led Senate.
Surely if Trump was reelected President and then became incapacitated, it would be J D Vance not Walz who would get the top job? The election for President and Vice President is as a pair, not two separate elections, as I understand it?

I’m tired of Trump matters – will turn on the radio when the results of the election are due, and leave this my last post about Trump, a rather distasteful happening in Las Vegas, a 43-foot-high full frontal naked statue of Trump to be toured across America. That’ll please him!
Woke this morning being nagged about the possibility of Trump being president with Tim Walz as his VP.
A 269 tie in electoral votes would lead, constitutionally, to Trump being nominated President via the House of Representatives, and Walz being nominated VP through the Democrat-led Senate.
It is possible therefore, that if Trump, due to illness or accident, has to step aside, Tim Walz, a Democrat, would become President. Bit of a fairytale, but feasible.
Am I right? A bit confusing!
CNN - According to the 12th Amendment , enacted in the wake of that divisive 1800 election, if no candidate gets a majority of the Electoral College votes, the new Congress, which would have just been sworn in on January 3, chooses the president. The Senate would choose the vice president.
