Trump's won, the West is goosed ☹️

Some of the stuff that GW spouts has a ring of truth. Not that means I support him. It is true that this forum, like many other similar groups, has a hard core of persistent posters who have an opinion on a wide variety of subjects. Just think about it. Not all of us are 100% mobile any more. The internet allows us to escape to another universe where we are all on an equal footing. Joining in conversations and being in contact with the outside world can be a form of therapy. None of this absolves us of the need to be polite.

I appreciate your input and Im glad someone has seen this. Scan any subject in this forum and you will see patterns emerge consistently.

Today’s Times:

It did not go unnoticed by the Diary’s clerical readers that Donald Trump’s election was confirmed on the feast day of St Leonard, patron saint of convicts, whose intercession often saved them from jail.

I’m curious, given that you appear to have such a low opinion of us all why you are still here?

People’s opinions are easier to change if you don’t get their backs up.

I’m in a lot of places. Not just here. In fact I spend hardly anytime on this forum as you pointed out.

I did ask for my account to be closed but that never happened. And Im not trying to change anyones opinion. Just debating it.

Is that a clear enough answer?

The easiest thing to do is to just stop posting.

Next in line VP elect Vance… if he drops dead it is the Speaker of the House

What a bizzare concept

Yes. All that joy, dreams, aspirations and unburdening… i.e. Nothing concrete.

When I leave a forum, I leave it. Doing something else can make a person look a bit needy. Either leave or don’t, but there won’t be sympathy if you keep telling us you want to be deleted yet come back again and again.

Why on earth do you think Im looking for or need sympathy? Its you lot that are cranky because Trump won.

Im sure you must be aware there are hundreds of Facebook groups for international residents of every part of France on every subject under the sun, many of which I am registered on.

Same goes for Instagram and Reddit. Telegram, X and the splinter groups from when Musk rescued Twitter. Groups with tens of thousands of registered users.

The difference between those groups and this one is that the members arent all required to sing from the same hymn sheet and they are far to big to have some people designated as “favourites”.

And on a completely different topic, why does this forum not hold related posts together and in the correct sequence.

Apparently you have to “quote” the post you are replying to or else the http get doesnt keep them together?

Its a extremely simple sorting statement on the fetch.

Also, there is no async push when posting so the only way you know if there is an update to the thread is if you do a full refresh.

Bizarre

You’d have to ask the people that wrote the software. They can be found → here.

I’m surprised that someone so experienced that they “write forum software” would be unaware of the distinction between the authors of a platform and its users.

Arent you supposed to be the tech guru around these parts? Or is that Scully. I can never remember.

Or does that just entail booting off posters who dont agree with you?

Wouldnt raising this as a major issue be something someone in charge of this forum would do?

Here is a freebee to suggest i find somewhere else to go if i dont like it:

Shouldnt it be fixed because its a terrible user experience. There go on. Tell me…

Oops. I forgot to “quote”. Damn

Writing a forum in its basic form is just keeping things in the order they happened in. Its not rocket science in case you got that impression.

Ooh. That could be a throwing off the forum offense.

There, I fixed that for you.

It does if you use the ‘load parent post’ feature.
