UK teachers pension - lump sum declaration

Me too Ann particularly as accountancy is the most misnamed occupation on the planet!
They are accountable to nothing and no-one. When we were in business, we had to sign a disclaimer with our one before he would submit our returns! (Oh, forgot to mention about the cheque before hand as well lol!)

Her home is now in the UK. Council tax, bank accounts everything in her name at a house she owns there. It is for her to prove that she is not living here, so flight tickets etc are going in with this years tax return, which will have to include a ‘split’ return from the UK accountant.
As regards ‘choosing’ to pay tax in the UK, her business in the UK, which is in partnership with another pays tax there as the money is earned there. The UK income is declared here, but no tax has ever been due on it, except when there has been a Capital Gain. With no CGT Allowance here, that was an unexpected bill last year. Due to potential gains for the next three years, the most advantageous way of dealing with it, was for her to move back. Worldwide assets are disclosed here too.

Hi,
If what Paul Bradford relates of the response from the tax office via the accountant is accurate ,and it relates to his police pension, then it seems to me that neither the tax office nor the accountant know what they are talking about.
Police pensions and similar are totally exempt from all french taxes and charges (article 19 of the treaty) . As they are declared for the purpose of calculating the french tax rate on french taxable income , any changes in their amount may have a slight effect on the the french tax charged on the french - taxable income .
