UK to French Driving Licence Swap - why have i lost categories?

I assume you have a UK licence, when does the 4b date expire, you can start the exchange 12 months before this date.

The driving rights is the DVLA check code pdf, to be found at DVLA “check my licence”

Does anybody know what I might expect to happen with my UK driving license. I am 74 years old and my UK licence runs out next year. So I completed the French application forms (ANTS) to swap the license to a French driving license. I am told it takes a ‘long time’ , so as I stand at the moment I have no idea what they will do or whether I will be able to drive at all - or if I might be asked to pass another test.

Hello Michael you can drive all the time your licence is valid but exchanges are taking 6-8 months.

At some point you will be asked for more info if you didn’t upload the DVLA attestation, (DVLA check my licence pdf) if you didn’t upload it when you applied, and then eventually asked to send in your licence at which point you will get a temp licence allowing you to drive whilst waiting for your new french licence to be produced.

If your licence expires whilst waiting for the temp licence you will not be legally allowed to drive and you will need the DVLA D737 certificate if your licence expires before you are asked for the DVLA attestation, you will have to ring the DVLA for this document.
