Upright or front-loading

Oh and I’m short too!

Makes? Miele if you can afford it - working life for us with children was over 15 years, and the replacement will probably see us out. Before that we had Philips and Zanussi, both just making it past the warranty period.

Perfect!

That would be my choice too, but I’m encountering some resistance (despite the uk dishwasher being Miele).

Dunno. Not sure if she top or front loads. Whatever, I slways have clean clothes

Sorry, but could not resist saying it!!!

Seriously, Miele front loader every time. I have one here and in UK. Both over 12 years old and never miss a beat.

Bosch everything chez nous :slightly_smiling_face: Dish washer, washing machine, dryer, all over twenty years old and still going strong (now that I’ve written that they’ll probably blow up) Fridge twelve years old (after a hardly used Samsung gave up the ghost). Induction hob Siemens (AKA Bosch). Oven a recently acquired Neff (AKA Bosch).

The old family home was wall to wall Bosch too. Never a problem.

We have an LG direct drive, actually 2 as we picked up a 2nd one on LBC for our gite, ehichbwe still don’t have :grimacing:

Funny story which played with my morals at the time. When we arrived we had 3 kids, a house to renovate, the baby in cloth nappies. I wanted an 8 kg which was about the biggest you could get at the time. We decided to just get the cheapest one, Oceania or something, and upgrade later. We ordered online and picked up at a depot in Bergerac. We noticed there was LG on the box, but thought little of it as figured came out of the sane factory. When w got home and unpacked it, we discovered it was a lovely LG. We didn’t know what to do but I had a mound of washing to do, hubby pointed out he often gets computer bits upgraded if they are out ect as its more hassle for them. We quietly waited for an email saying there had been a boo boo but no! I still feel a bit guilty but love my machine!!! Still going strong 9 years on. The direct drivesbhave a 10 year warranty.

Our’s is an LG too. I just checked my old emails… it’s 13 years old this month! (hope I don’t jinx it now) Possibly the best £360 I’ve spent.

Ours was only 220e, or 640e depending which way you look at it

Tumble dryer and Dishwasher are Bosch… would happily buy again.

Like you, I also made the mistake of buying a Samsung fridge. We ended up selling it to the people who bought our house in the UK. Wasn’t impressed with it at all. They make good TVs and PC monitors, but I won’t buy their white goods again.

Bosch front loader here too, very quiet and 1400rpm spin - the Miele of the not quite so flush!

But Bosch’s current fridge and freezer drawer fronts and accessories could be made from thicker plastic.

No walking around issues, the machine not yourself?

Two Samsung washing machines, one France, one UK over 8 years old. UK one has the sock adding door facility where you can pause a wash and add a dropped item. Very handy feature both with a forgetful partner and now a sock stealing puppy :joy: I guess washing clothes in samsung fridge freezers just doesnt work, :open_mouth:

It’s the type of plastic used that is the problem. Cold storage drawers have to be made of certain types of plastic otherwise they go very brittle with time. Unfortunately the plastics they do use are also brittle to an extent, but don’t get worse with age. All fridges and freezers are the same.
What I do like about Bosch, and I have fridge, freezer, dishwasher and oven by Bosch, is that spares are usually available for several years and they are priced reasonably. Forgot about the Bosch lawnmower.

Ooh, talking about lawn mowers… We bought a battery powered one as I was fed up of the cable trailing everywhere when mowing and of having to repair it when the missus would inadvertently cut through it.

We bought one of these from a company called Greenworks. I wasn’t sure what to expect but it’s been great so far. Not having to worry about the cable has been liberating!

Ideally I’d like to pick up another battery one day, as our garden is too large to do it in one charge. Eventually I might switch out our cheap cordless Parkside garden tools for Greenworks equivalents too, but it’s not a priority for the moment.

If the lottery numbers come up I might even treat myself to an army of robot lawn mowers.

Another Bosch fan here for appliances - though I do have a Bosch battery powered rotary lawnmower and it’s worked very well for the past six years or so, albeit it’s only mowing a fairly small area.

Also their power tools and garden choppy-shreddy things that eat branches.

Miele absolutely - the first ever washing machine I owned was bought in Germany, came with me to France, moved three times in France, and outlasted the 3 children well into their teens. It wasn’t cheap, but it was solid as a rock, and already more energy efficient than the contemporary ones available when I moved to France.

I bought one of their electric wheelbarrows. More for a joke really, but it is very useful.

But these are Chinese!!

Recently bought a Samsung direct drive 11 Kg washing machine. So far, it’s been brilliant and it balances and spins with hardly a murmur. We washed all the duvets in it and it behaved impeccably. The repairability index of the old machine was 1.8 from 10 and we would have needed to replace the entire drum assembly because a bearing failed. The new Samsung is 9.7 from 10.
