Nothing to do with your address it’s when the licence was issued before or after your arrival.
You were very lucky they missed it.

I guess if you didn’t have a Euro licence at the time, maybe not.

I winder if you are caught speeding in a country that adds points if they could be used to recuperate (rather than one of those courses) the points you’ve lost in France
