Very loud noise, southern 86, 4th October 10.00

We heard it too , in Moulismes. Went outside to see what was happening, as did our neighbour.
Nothing in the sky , which we could see & it was a very clear day - very little cloud.
Sounded like it could have been aircraft, but went on for far too long & nothing to be seen. Mysterious !!!

I’m ½ way between you and Adriers - it certainly was loud! I’ve asked our mairie and they heard it but had no explanation either - other than confirming it was nothing to do with the air exercises going on elsewhere in France!

Latest from the NOTAM information to pilots

The Armée de l’air et de l’espace has confirmed an annual military exercise taking place across southwest and central France, which will last until October 15.

This exercise is called Volfa, a three-week-long period of high intensity combat training which involves around 25 manoeuvres carried out at all times of the day and night and using 50 different planes.

How disappointing it wasn’t aliens!
