Voting Day today in UK

They want to legalise it to bring class a under proper control, a brave move but nowt else has worked. The press just attack to stir up the pot. Pun intended

I think the problem is that, as with all of their policies, they have no evidence or data to back it up. What another country has achieved relies on the particular circumstances of that country, rather than being universally applicable.

And - sorry but I think it’s true - Polanski is a charlatan and an opportunist with no obvious moral principles and someone who shouldn’t be within a million miles of power. He’s one of the people - like Farage - whose opinions I would automatically disbelieve.

I suspect if he did get close to power, all sorts of stuff would come out. It’s interesting that he hasn’t tried to get elected in a parliamentary election, just the London Assembly.

I consider them all oportunists. However the current situation is down to only two things, the ellites and their right wing media mates, Starmer and co not reading the room and whilst they have achieved a few things its costing families a lot of money more than before.

Stuff is already coming out but maybe less in the MSM until recently. Polanski (not his real name, I just found out) is facing questions about a houseboat and council tax.

He tried to say he was a spokesman for the British Red Cross and lied about his hypnotherapy qualifications. OK, these may not be major but it encourages the ‘no smoke without fire’ thoughts.

And the party has antisemitism problem.

At this moment with Netanyahu, so have I.

Stuff comes out when they become a threat, minor stuff compared to the party winning all the votes at the moment but the morons seem to forget that.

The positive of Labour losing is hopefully T Blair won’t be heard from again. Ok.that’s a dream but one can hope

A lot of Jewish people don’t support Netanyahu though.

He came clean about that in an interview and admitted he was a fund collector for them. A bit like our chancellor over egging her position.

Where’s he standing?

More than that he did several on stage events for them as a compere and spoke at some length at some about them. He wasn’t a press spokesperson or such, but he probably felt able to bend the reality because he literally did go on stage and say “I’m ZP, this is the British Red Cross fundraiser, here’s ten minutes of information about the BRC, what it does, what it believes, and why you should give money”. Then conducts a full fundraiser. For all intents and purposes he was their spokesperson at those events. I present this without judgement, neither to make excuses or defend, or to kick him when he’s down, but this wasn’t someone making up complete fabrications to make themselves look good, but rather someone massaging what they actually did to give it the best light.

I disagree. That’s no more acceptable than Farage claiming his £5m wasn’t relevant.

Lies are lies, not “massage”, not even if you’re Polanski. He knew the Red Cross was apolitical: he shouldn’t have used a lie to get himself elected.

I cant imagine how enraged Alan must be. Although to be fair, Lynn, I suspect Greens are definitely sex people, so he may be in for some luck.

Think there’s a considerable difference of magnitude, as there was with the faux outrage at Starmer’s specs and Rayner’s mortgage mishap.

Doubt that it was the lie that got him elected.

OTOH I think he’s politically naïve to make claims that are easily disproved.

Of course. But - unless you’re suggesting that magnitude is an excuse - it’s irrelevant. If you lie where you think it doesn’t matter, you still reveal your character.

And the most obvious explanation of what Rayner did was that she chose a different conveyancer so that she could pull the wool over their eyes and then blame them, which was pretty shoddy. Starmer was naive; Rayner was much more calculating.

Do you think Starmer was naive? I don’t understand why he thought it was OK to criticise the Tories for sleaze, which they deserved, but somehow thought that accepting glasses and suits for him and clothes for his wife was OK.

Oh, he absolutely was. It was beyond stupid. But then he wanted to be in the entertainment industry, i triple check that everyone I meet in a work context actually means hello when they say hello, because there is absolutely nothing that people won’t lie about if they think they will reflect well on themselves or get them a job, and the point is that none of its malicious, you just say what you need to to get the job then deal with it later. At its most basic I’ve had champion horse riders who have never been in a field with a horse, proficient French speakers who forget au revoir, singers who performed with Prince and did so by standing in the audience at a gig and singing the words with him… this is the superficial but it’s endemic, and I suspect it may have been a part of his personality as it is with the vast majority of people i meet. Generally when they stop being a pop star and start being a manager of other pop stars or such they do lose this habit pretty quickly because as I say, it’s not done with malice, it’s just how you hustle.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy Is perhaps the most recent example of someone from show business who has made good in politics so it’s not always a car crash, and if Zack realises he’s in a different world now and can get his act together who knows how well he may do. For me (and just my personal opinion obviously) he’s better than the current alternatives.

I’ve never understood how a party that wants independence, also wants to be part of the EU.

And as I posted the other day, Farage isn’t just the 5 million, the lies about where the 1 million in cash to buy his, his girlfriends, no sorry the gift from her parents, none of which have the funds to do so. Habitual lies. But a lot of stupid people have followed him.

There’s probably lots you don’t understand but I wouldn’t lose sleep over it.

And I don’t understand why my countrymen always refuse to answer that question and get a little bit snarky when asked to explain their position.
