Falling leaves by Adeline Yen Mah. ISBN 0-14-026598-8
A fascinating biography of a Chines child’s life in a disfunctional family ruled by a dominant stepmother.
I found it fascinating but not as fascinating as Wild Swans (Jung Chang). Just finished ‘The Mirror and the Light’ the 3rd in Hilary Mantel’s Cromwell trilogy. Also reading a load of stuff for work
I’m not sure what I’m reading
I get through about 3 novels a week and read on my phone so don’t always remember the names! It is an exploration of a mother / daughter relationship during a rather gruelling across the world trip! I’ll go and look at the name and edit my post

I warn you though - it will probably have you spitting tacks when you realise just how much the popular press has enabled (or cajoled) government, especially in the last 10 years, to reduce our access to justice (in fact you-know-what suddenly seems to be merely part of a continuum of this process). 1] Other bookstores are available.I’ve heard of this, I think he has a website and twitter as well.
Reading Hamnet by Maggie ÔFarrell. Just started it but I know/hope it’s going to be a cracker.
If you liked the Wolf Hall books and such like give this a go. When I say ‘reading’ i mean just the first few pages before falling asleep last night but already I’m in love with the atmosphere she creates: of an empty house and being a young child wandering through deserted rooms.
If it disappoints I’ll post again to dissuade you but so far so exciting.
