Totally disagree with that , I’m sitting in room now and it’s so cool, comfortable. I suppose it’s choice and I’m more than happy with my choice of purchase.
I have absolutely loved the tickets to the thermal baths I got on Monday and yesterday, we went at 6 in the evening (they shut at 9) and not only were there only about 20 other people there (it’s big so feels like nobody) but also the tickets were 30% off because the air temperature was over 30°, win win. Those Romans had the right idea.
I’ve improvised occasionally by running a fan with a bowl of ice in front of it. But I think wet linen clothing or any other natural clothing that will absorb water that you can have on you will keep you cool as it evaporates.
The last time we were in Lesvos we visited a thermal bath. The water was about 37 degrees and it felt great until we came out and the air was also about 37-38. There was no cooling down, and it took a very uncomfortable 30-40mins getting heat flow sorted out. Fortunately it was evening, so no sunlight to cope with too.
It was a good experience, but one that brought learning for the future. ![]()
Bought these plus the strawberry ones in Lidl today. Very refreshing. Reminded us of when we were kids sucking on a frozen jubbly
I bought a desk magnifier from Gumtree in the UK and its been used on every visit for wifes jewelry and for fixing numerous electronic devices.
A Shark battery electric fan. It will run on rechargeable battery outside and I’ve used it to make life more difficult for mozzies - disturbs their flight. It’s almost silent on lower settings and ideal for the bedroom. It can be used with it’s pedestal or the top part can be lifted off said pedestal and has stowable tripod feet. Very versatile. It has a misting attachment too but I haven’t tried it yet. Need some warm weather
I bought it on Amazon.de in April but of course prices have risen with demand.
I’ve just treated us to a Ninja woodfire electric bbq and smoker. Bloody brilliant. Tried Waygu burgers the first day - no going back. Smoked whole chicken last night and just put a pork shoulder joint in for smoked pulled pork this evening.
I’ve never smoked food before so any wood pellet recommendations gratefully received.
I have one of those as well. It’s great.
Oh I used to love a jubbly ![]()
My fridge
! The two freezer drawers are so much more convenient than on models where you have to open a door to access tiny little drawers…and it defrosts on its own ![]()

I like the individual freezer drawers rather than a door with drawers behind. Never seen them before.
Never leave your drawers open on a freezing cold day
Unless I’m mistaken, Haier is the only one that does this. The drawers slide on casters.
You are! Lots do them now. We have a Beko American size with the drawers ,(sadly on the to be fixed list). Id say its at least 7 years old. I utterly loved it before it died. I freeze stuff in zip lock bags flat, then ‘file’ them upright, so space efficient.
Bauknecht do one.
I had an unfortunate episode with a Haier Wine Fridge. I haven’t really got anywhere to keep wine so I thought a relatively inexpensive wine fridge would do the trick. It was supposed to hold 34 bottles but I struggled to get in 28. I wrote to John Lewis, whence it came, to be told it will indeed hold 34 bottles but only Bordeaux shaped ones! I could find nothing in the blurb to say this.
