What to do when it's so hot?

Oh and a nice nap in my aircon bedroom. I agree with you though, I’m starting to get very bored and at least a week to go! Feels like a waste of my holidays tbh as lots to do but nothing outdoors by about 12 and honestly even inside isn’t pleasant for more than sitting!!

Take your laptop down to the cave and do some online research on the history of the Cevennes.

Purchase a rare first edition of Stevenson’s Travels with a Donkey in the Cevennes for only €12.49 and take that down to the cave.

Ditto. Under coolest tree in the spot where year round here’s a little breeze - in the shade.

Heat can be lifethreatening at temps lower than this - a local French lady warned me when it was only 29 degrees The only sensible option is el farniente and find the coolest spot available.

PS Soaking linen clothes in water, squeezing out, wearing and letting it evaporate can have a very cooling effect.

I’ve never been able to crochet. I can knit but don’t sew except for cross-stitch which I really enjoy. Can’t do that at the moment though because the cats won’t let me. Still, Stuart will soon finish their catio so they can move into there and play/sleep/eat/pee to their hearts content.

@MikeyPotts , I suspect you like to keep your hands busy.

Maybe learn to play a musical instrument?

The poor sheep, I’ve attached his head and one arm but not done anything else today. It’s all good the baby is only 5 months :rofl:

This is what Mrs. W did a few years ago to work, she also installed a bed and a few home comforts. (I was away at the time) now we shut the shutters windows etc. But I’m future proofing the cellar for such eventualities.

Make sure you’ve got either a good wi-fi signal or a decent reading light…

Wifi works a treat, lighting basic for the moment,it’s nice down there with candle lighting, concrete floor being laid in October, radiators hopefully before January but these will be for my plant nursery. So multiple fonction cellar.
Edit. I could easily put a kitchen in the first elevation

Poor Man’s A/C works wonder when you have to be outside in 30+°C weather.

Don’t forget to wear a cotton hat that you can also saturate to keep your head cool.

Another excellent idea.

I have already read the book (with a Scottish accent in my head) and really enjoyed it.

So…I could therefore take a short drive to Pont Montvert and jump into the river to cool off…

…that’s a good idea…I could practice a bit more (been playing since I was a kid and still really quite rubbish but maybe I could crank up the valve amp to annoy the neighbours…if there were around to annoy)

If you don’t break one of those glasses, it wasn’t loud enough.

I’m currently busy restoring lots of stonework and thought I could use this bit of the outside caves/arches for growing hydroponic salad. It’s not too hot there and is shaded. Or perhaps something else. I think back in the day, the cows were brought in for the night to hang and chill out. Maybe get some cows… dunno.

Concerned you left that case of Leffe out in the heat.

Hahah…every time I go back to NL, I get a crate of beer, drink the beer, and use the crates to form low staging so I can reach low ceilings or to place buckets or mortar on so I don’t have to bend down all the time…

Simple for me, up to the pond, swim, read, doze, repeat, repeat, repeat. :joy:
