What TV do I need to cover most options?

Oh, thanks. I watch a lot (and I mean A LOT) of YouTube videos so this will save me having to sit through hours of ads every week  Will see if it works on my Android box tonight.

as indeed do I… the difference being that I download them first to my NAS and watch them on my Samsung TV. The downloaded YT vids are ad free on the PC I use to download them (I have Ghostery running which suppresses the ads).

The downloader is

I would otherwise be unable to download the S tube app (Smarttube) on my Sony tv with Google’s android variant of the operating system.
It may not be required on a normal android o.s

So I take it you’re not watching them in the native YT app? Perhaps I need to reconsider how I watch them.

Currently I have the official app installed on my Formula Z8 Android box. I can use the remote control for the Z8 to search for what I want to watch, but find it’s easier to use my phone instead… which conveniently recognises YT is installed on the Z8 (I think the Z8 is just acting like a Chromecast / Miracast receiver).

That’s correct. If we launch the YT app on our Samsung TV, we get the adverts - bloody annoying. I’m sure we could probably stop them but since downloading them to the NAS to watch, there hasn’t been a problem. I don’t keep them on the NAS after watching; I mark them with a :+1: to indicate I’ve already downloaded and watched it (to avoid repetition) and then delete it from the NAS (from within Linux - the NAS video share is mounted at boot). If I do want to keep the video for some reason, I copy it across the network from the NAS to a storage HD which in turn is backed up to an external USB 1TB drive or my Dropbox or Box account in the cloud.

Ha, yes. So there was a version of this already available on the bespoke app store that ships on my Android box alongside the official Google one. It was an earlier version but it updated itself straight away and is working flawlessly so far.

Thanks for the tip :slightly_smiling_face:
