Sky TV

Shortly we will be moving to France, to retire. I am aware of all the ex pats & others that have Sky TV, and as I understand it they have an account in the UK, paid monthly, but the sky box and card is in France, and it works.

Can someone advise, if one of my kids has an extra Sky box/card in their house, that they pay for, but this Sky box/card is in France, it still works? And if so if one of my kids has the full package movies/sports etc, I will get all those channels in France?

Cheers

Byron

The main problem is being connected to a uk telephone line like Ian stated sometimes they will have a'purge' and if your sky is not connected to the registered land line then they will cut you off.

Best to register it in your name at one of your children's address, then when in france ring them to say that you are using it in your holiday home, it worked for me, they are loosing so many customers now that they are turning a blind eye to sets being used abroad.

You will still need to pay the sky account through a uk bank account so it always pays to try and keep your uk bank account open.

As I understand it - yes they will work with the right parabol installed. Sometimes Sky have a 'purge'

I use 'FREEBOX@ because that is perfectly legal in France, and free. Depending on where you're going in France, there are many British dealers capable of installing FREEBOX with new or used boxes....try Google search for 'Install FREEBOX in France' or use the English newspaper 'CONNEXION' - they have loads of contact details.

I also use, for free http://www.filmon.com/tv/itv3 which has some hundreds of programmes in English and other languages and this one (less reliable, but also free) http://www.firstrowsports.li/
