14th July and all that jazz

Did anyone enjoy watching the Concert de Paris yesterday evening and the impressive display which followed.

TV transmission is available on You-tube until 2027…

and now, I’m waiting to watch the March down the Champs d’Elysées … the Foreign Legion are my favourites, although the whole thing is very impressive.

Keep cool everyone :+1:

Might those 7000 military personnel be better occupied fighting fires, getting food and supplies to cut off communities, patrolling beaches where people are drowning, rescuing the horses from Fontainbleu or even getting kittens out of trees?

The only positive of the whole exorbitant event is that it makes Trump jealous.

The FL in their outfits has more than once perversely made me wonder if there have ever been militarised coiffeurs in France…

Yes, I watched the concert and now the parade. It’s on my bucket list to attend in person, though I’m sure you can’t really see much of either compared to watching on TV. This is Macron’s last chance…not sure I can stomach watching Le Pen next year, ankle bracelet and all.

Unfortunately, I never got high enough up the pecking order to get a ringside seat on the 14th, though I did for the King’s state visit.

She hasn’t won yet!

She gets closer every try. The extreme left looks just as bad…maybe worse.

I just hope Putin doesn’t replace Zelenskyy at next year’s event.

I caught a glimpse of the main 14/7 défilé on the news and my main question is how the hell Brigitte Macron can walk on cobblestones in those heels!

She certainly is a talented lady ! :+1:

Alexander technique? Apparently much used by catwalk models.

I won’t repeat what my orthopaedic surgeon said about those shoes when he checked my feet after the operations and told me never ever to wear anything higher than a very slight wedge but flats mostly as long as they support the foot and don’t act like a pair of boats. If you look carefully at a lot of famous women wearing strappy shoes, many of them have deformed feet especially bunions

Very Good Point ! We used to watch every year but not this one.

I was enthralled, but waiting for the music to change… that’s the “alert” that the Foreign Legion are on their way.

Having loved the 14th Juillet for many years, it’s not until now that I’ve discovered the name of the music: “le boudin”.

Seems the Foreign Legion march slower than all them uvvers… 88 paces instead of 130.

here’s a video from 2019 (sorry for the advert at the start)
