Sorry if it was already discussed, but as some of you will know, from the 1st of March 2026, any items under 150 euros will be met with a 2 euro tax. Normally that would be payable online when the order is made, if not, LaPoste or equivalent will collect. The tax is per HS code, so if you have multiple items the same, it’s just 2 euros, but otherwise you will pay 2 euros per item.
I have a couple of orders placed before the 1st March, from outside of the EU, that are due to arrive this week (with many multiple small items), so I’m really hoping that I won’t get charged or that LaPoste try to add some supplementary admin fee on top, or I might have to refuse.
The document attached in the article and says the entity responsible for collecting the TVA will also be responsible for collecting the € 2 small parcell levy. So in the case of AliExpress for example, they will collect the € 2 and it should be included in the price as TVA is. In theory
Which is what they do for the UK - up to £140 I think, after that it is the customer’s responsibility (which, in practice, means the local courier will bill you which apropos previous comments is usually quite a bit more than the “raw” VAT & duty).
Mine passed through export customs on the 28th Feb, and through import customs early on the 1st March. It’s due for delivery today via Colis Privé, so I guess I’m about to find out !
My order was an Aliexpress job, but it seems once it reaches France they stick a new label on it, then it’s sent like a domestic item. It was dropped in my letterbox, no charge, via Colis Privé.
Needs more urgency and ambition. Like buying Mastercharge, or at least a 50% share.
"Based on 2025 financial reports, Mastercard has shown strong, double-digit growth in Europe, with total global net revenue reaching $32.8 billion and net income of $15.0 billion.
While a specific, isolated net profit figure for the European continent alone is not explicitly broken out in the provided search results, Europe is a major component of Mastercard’s international business, which together with Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa, accounts for 57% of total revenue"
Mastercard net worth as of February 27, 2026 is $465.49B .
Yes, UK and EU have been complacent on so many fronts. Thanks to the orange one, maybe they will learn not to, also to build their industrial strength. I was surprised that Iran had nuclear power stations when they are the oil Barron’s. Wonder how that would go down with the green energy downers like Farage?
Contradictorily, the nuclear power stations gave them a better smoke screen that oil fired ones would have Just not for 60% enriched fuel, which is a tad above the 4% required for power stations.
