Didn’t matter what words he used… (French or English) his accent was enough to have us students in rapture… 
I’m very disappointed to see that “coeur” isn’t on their list. Shortly after arriving I unwisely let myself get swept away by a grande passion; he used to call me “mon p’tit coeur”, and the way he said “coeur” made me melt into a puddle every time. Something about the long vowel and the gutteral “r” at the end. Just remembering it sends me misty eyed, all these years later. Hey ho.
