the use of the Taser was due to Nowland being armed with a steak knife.
Maybe she tried the old “That’s not a knife, THIS is a knife.” line and they replied “no, this is a taser…”
(Sorry, so sorry, it’s a terrible story and taking it at face value seemingly a shameful act by the police, but a bit of mild gallows humour sometimes is necessary
