A little mid-week humour to lighten the mood

This was posted on FB by my stepson who became a Mormon many years ago and faced some resistance, though not from me because I had been treated well by them when somewhat down and out, but I thought a bit late now. So I read on.

This memory popped up so I thought I would repost it.

My dear family and friends, I writing this as an open letter to you all today so that I don’t have spend time to telling you individually. So I ask that as you read this that you won’t judge me and treat me any differently. I don’t’ know where start, but I will try to be as open and honest as I can. It started about a year after I left secondary school (1984). I had started my first job and was excited about life. I was making new friends and experiencing new things. I had a girlfriend and we got on well. Then things changed, something was happening that I could not explain. I can’t pin point why, where and how it happened. I told my family and some close friends and they accepted me and supported me. I now feel the time is right to come out and be proud and not be ashamed.

I love soap operas, Eastenders is my favourite tonight’s episodes were brilliant. The writers and directors should get a BAFTA TV award. There I did it.

I had forgotten his rather quirky sense of humour. :joy:

Fortunately my partner worked it out eventually! I’m useless at these sorts of things

However, he laughed and laughed so it brightened his morning

Let’s just say that I didn’t get it instantly either - if it brightened his day then it was worth posting. :slightly_smiling_face:

I am almost finished watching a Netflix film that, surprisingly, I have never seen before. One of those stock war films made in the '50s and jam packed full with stars of the day. It is called ‘The Sea Shall Not Have Them’ and, as I knew most of the cast as a viewer, decided to wiki their later careers.

Lots of stuff, both interesting and otherwise, but the best quote of the lot which would I think take the Oscar for the cattiest quip was made by Noel Coward, a famously gay actor who was not in the film.

Referring to the film’s title, NoĂ«l Coward said of the film’s two male stars, “I don’t see why not. Everyone else has.” Redgrave was reportedly bisexual, while Bogarde was homosexual

By comparison it is a stream of cool, pure water.

I used some in the dressing for a lovely crunchy cauliflower and lardon salad.
