Probably having to pay to watch it. ![]()
I stopped watching live F1 because I won’t pay Rupert Murdoch money for something that the owners of F1 promised would always be available on “free to view TV” when they took over from Bernie Ecclestone.

Would that be enough to disqualify somebody from obtaining Aussie citizenship?![]()
Another alternative perhaps would be to install the necessary apps (including a VPN to spoof your location as if you were in the UK) on your iPad and watch TV on that. You could use headphones, so as not to disturb your other half - or vice versa.

In terms of all required Apps - it does matter which vpn you’re using - not all smart tvs will have all the vpn apps. Should be easy to check- or have the vpn on your router and connect the smart tv to the router vpn wifi channel
I was referring to viewing apps like iPlayer or Netflix.
I was able to download and install the nordvpn app on our smart TV. Can’t get it to work though. I go to the app, set it to UK, then when I leave it it seems to turn off again immediately.
Rather than use the Nord app you might find it better to use their Smart DNS option (it’s included with all their accounts).
If you follow this link it will tell you all you need to know.
I use it all the time on our main TV.
Only seems to unblock US sites.
What are you trying to do in the UK with it?
iPlayer and channel4.
I usually have to go through a tv browser with the VPN to get those. The app seem to be able to block it sometimes
I can access them on my laptop and connect it to the TV, but the sound is not well synchronized.
Ya the apps are bypassing the VPN and getting your location from the TV so they are blocking access. Some TVs you can stop it but usually it is easier just to get a stick
A Firestick, or similar (cheaper) device can be powered from an unused usb port on the tele. Less wiring.
I use a dish to watch UK tv. I find it easier, cheaper. No iplayer, obs but I usually watch recorded tv , skipping any ads, using a multi-channel recorder.
Also bear in mind, if you are not already aware, using vpns, etc to circumvent the regs, is almost certain to break the rules of your IP and content provider.
I realise ‘everybody is doing it’ but eventually there will be blowback.
In the USA , one company , which transmits porn has sued ( I should have said sUeSA) customers who have downloaded content, against their regs, for 10s of thousands of dollars. If the TV content and IP providers see that as a way to stop ‘piracy’ , they won’t hold back.
search theguardian, rise of the porno trolls
That would depend on the implementation of the USB ports on the TV.
Some, like my 2014 vintage Panasonic, only provide enough power for a USB stick to allow viewing of on it. The 4K Firesticks are notoriously twitchy if not powered by the supplied mains adapter.
I am not sure what your point is?
Odd, for me it works just fine for all the UK sites.
It was a bit of a ramble.
first point was about reducing wiring.
second point was sat dish is easier for uk tv IMO (if you can get a signal)
third point was we are breaking various rules, regs and maybe even laws by using fire sticks or similar devices to stream UK or other content and should be aware of it, some people are not.
fourth point was an observation that we can be sure the content providers and internet providers will be looking at ways to stop any circumvention of their rules.

OK, i’ll try it. I was just going on what it said in the link your gave.
