We have one TV connected via Orange wifi in the living room with a firestick to access uk tv. My OH is sports obsessed and it’s driving me crazy. I am contemplating buying another Smart TV and firestick so that I can actually watch some decent TV. The only viable location for the new TV would be in the bedroom ( never thought I would see the day when I had a TV in the bedroom). My question is: if I buy the TV and firestick will it work without having to add extra leads etc? i.e. will it pick up the wifi signal to let me set up ( I am able to get internet on my phone and ipad in the bedroom).

You have my condolences. Can’t help with the techno bit but good luck!!!

It shouldn’t need any extra cables, but remember that both the TV and the Firestick will need mains power.

If the TV is wifi enabled then yes it should connect and let you watch stuff streamed via the internet. Or the Firestick will. But if you buy a “smart TV” you should not need a Firestick as well - the TV will have all the apps built in.

That’s exactly how I watch TV in my bedroom while the Aged Parent monopolises the one in the living room.

The only issue will be connection strength and speed. I have a wifi repeater box that relays the signal from the main router at the other end of the bungalow.

We have 70mbps download speed and that’s 100% fine for 4K TV.

That’s what I was hoping to hear :hugs:

If you both had headphones then you could sit in the same room and watch together provided you can place the screens so they don’t interfere with each others viewing. At least you would both be in the same space.

Thanks Toryroo

Thanks Chris

Don’t be bitter @toryroo - just because England thrashed Oz in the Boxing Day Test Match!!! (Just don’t mention the previous 3 test matches!)

I think Maura if he is the one dictating the viewing choices on the family TV he should be the one organising the alternative for you. Tell him to get his finger out and man up.

BTW, stick him in the bedroom, not you.

:rofl:Great idea John! The thing is, I actually don’t watch much TV - I’d rather read a book or listen to music so I really don’t care where I watch it.

And apparently cost us millions too :rofl:

I sit happily in my corner with my ear buds while the cricket /rugby is on.

I chose a husband not into watching sport :rofl::rofl:. He did used to watch the F1 but that fizzled out when something annoyed him about it and it was OK as on during the day mainly :rofl:. We enjoy the odd big rugby match and the winter Olympics as a family. If he started any more than that I’d have him up for breach of contract :rofl:

I’ve always been SO anti TVs in bedrooms but now the 19 year old and his Girlfriend have moved in it’s becoming more appealing :face_with_peeking_eye::face_with_peeking_eye:

I thought it was the Aussie’s responsibility to watch the sport…

Well maybe that’s why he picked me, but he’s never mentioned it :rofl:
