Cue - lots smug people who went for an off grid solution.
Charging to store electricity might be justifiable if they actually store it. It would also be a much easier sell if they say “we don’t pay a feed-in tariff but if you do feed in, any units you take out, up to the amount you fed in, are at reduced price”.
That “reduced price” being what you are paying for your stored energy.
Not sure how justifiable it is when the electricity from power stations is pretty apalling from fossil fuels.
