Have you got a paper version/ when did your parents die/were they British?
If all the formalities were done, then the fisc will already know and there’s nothing to be done.
I’ve just been through this for a friend - paper copy in her post box for the previous owner who died last December. I went to the Avranches tax office and they said nothing to do, don’t worry about it.
Thank you Mark. No one has done anything. A lot of acrimony, sadly, although not over the inheritance, just the enormous mess left by parents.
I am in the UK. Notaire done nothing for a year. Getting updates -impossible. I have the paper copy of the last tax return done in 2024 for 2023. My password no longer works. There is an accountancy firm in Paris - Elitex, found on internet, who will turn to if all fails. Getting the bank to release funds to pay to sort out mess is also hard work.
I’m worried about all the fines accruing from overshooting 6 month deadlines for succession/tax and the notaire so absent. Service charges and unpaid utilities standing charges.
The insurance normally continues until cancelled, but you need to check. You would probably be better going to the house to sort through any paperwork and go to see the notaire. Where is the property?
You won’t be able to gain access to their personal space on impôts - it will be blocked if they have died. And if it hasn’t been the you still shouldn’t really use it.
Are you able to phone their local impĂ´ts? Or get someone to phone for you?
You can download forms and fill in with previous details. It is best to get something in by the deadline, even if wrong, as you can change it when the amendments period opens later in the year.
Insurance important, so also phone insurance company!
