Acte de propriété question

Hi, everyone. I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction regarding receiving our house deed (acte de propriete).

We bought our house (primary residence) here about 11 months ago. When we signed the acte de vente, the notaire said it will take about 6 months for us to receive our copy of the acte de propriete. In the meantime, she gave us the attestation to use for opening utilities accounts.

It’s been more than six months and I’m starting to worry. I’m wondering if there’s a backlog or if anything got lost along the way. This notaire has been a nightmare to work with, very disorganized and uncommunicative during the sale, not to mention making mistakes.

So far, I’ve emailed them and called them, but with no response. Is there anywhere else I can check, or are they my only source of information? They are impossible to get in touch with, as attested by all the one-star reviews on their google maps listing.

I’m also worried because our Tax fonciere document has been sent to where we used to live in the Netherlands, even though we declared that the French house would be our primary residence. Luckily, our former landlord was nice enough to forward it, just in time. He said he’ll keep us updated in case he receives the acte de vente.

What can I do to follow up on this?
Thank you!

Hiya

This will be no consolation but we also had to wait for ages for the notaris to close things out and we chased and chased for monies owed to us from the notaris. I recall this took a couple of years and when I say ‘we’, I mean wife who is Dutch and she decided that French Notaris ambivalence was not to be tolerated and she ended up paying a few visits to their office.

It was soon sorted.

Are you able to make an rdv to go and chat face to face to sort?

For the tax foncière make sure your address change is noted properly on your personal space on the impôts site, and check correctly identified on the biens immobilier tab.

For the Titre de Vente I would suggest sending a LRAR letter to the notaire (lettre recommendé avec acuse de reception) asking for it. They can charge for it if they want.

We haven’t yet got ours after 9 months but aren’t particularly bothered. It will come one day.

Or you can go via Service Public to get a copy by submitting a request.

You don’t automatically get them anymore (you could probably ask for it though). I believe they’re all stored electronically somewhere- what could possibly go wrong?

Hello, you can try contacting the Service de la publicité foncière et de l’enregistrement

Thanks, Mikey. In order to make a rdv, they’d have to answer their phone. I might just have to show up, but I doubt I’ll get any answers from the receptionists.

Thanks very much for the suggestions, Jane.

Another problem that I’m trying to solve is getting our tax number. We filed our taxes on paper for the first time in May (before the end of the deadline, so well within the allocated time frame), but we still haven’t received anything from them. I can’t create an online account to change the address for the tax fonciere without the tax number. The bureaucratic load just doesn’t seem to ease up. Everything has to be chased and chased.

Really? The notaire said we’d get it in the (physical) mail.

Ours took nearly a year to arrive, but we were forewarned by the notary. Similarly, the overpayment of the droits de mutation was reimbursed to by special notary printed cheque in about the same timeframe.

One would hope they’re not stored in the OVH data center that caught fire a while ago.

Thats what we were told by our notaire when we moved over 3 years ago.

Thanks for the link, Juliet. I wonder if I should wait a bit longer? What if I ask for it via the form and it hasn’t been processed yet. Would I have to pay again? Thanks again for your help in digging out the link.

One year we didn’t get our avis until the following February! Paper returns are treated last, so generally don’t appear until late September. But October is taking it a bit too far. Is your SIP a long way away? (Service des impôts des particuliers). Best solution is to go see them. And if too far then try your nearest France Services office - they are immensely useful for many things.

Go to “Qui peut m’aider ?” and enter your location: you’ll get the contact information and phone number of the service that can provide you with information:slightly_smiling_face:

Or “où s’adresser”
