Association Intempéries Météo65
Association à but non lucratif qui vient en aide aux personnes ou entreprises sinistrées dans le département

After the disastrous floods of the 18th June 2013 in the South West of France, a group of volunteers co-ordinated by Eric Castaings founder of Meteo 65, came together to help individuals and businesses alike with the clean-up.

Recent events and extremely bad weather that has caused extensive flooding across France and other countries, prompted this amazing group of volunteers to come together once more to create an association that is ready to intervene in both urgent and non urgent situations.

The association AIME65 was created by Eric Castaings (President) Christophe Cieslar, (Vice President) and Yoann Debray,(Vice President in December 2013.
The association was officially confirmed by the Prefecture of the Hautes Pyrénées on the 13th January 2014.

AIME65 can be called upon to help people who have suffered all sorts of natural disasters or damages, incluing but not limited to, flooding, storm damage, landslides, avalanches, etc.

A system of evaluation has been put into place to decide the level of intervention and the necessary tools required as well as the number of volunteers required. The more severe the situation, the more equipment is required.

Volunteers are then notified of the dates of intervention and those who are able to assist confirm their presence. Wherever possible, a system of car sharing is adopted to keep costs as low as possible for all those who volunteer. Often the people/companies that are helped by AIME65 provide sustenance for the volunteers. In more severe cases however, this is not possible and volunteers must also provide their own food and drink.

In the very near future, the association aims to have checkpoints for all the necessary material to be stocked around the department. Sometimes, as was the case in June 2013, roads are blocked and access can be difficult. By stocking tools and equipment in different locations around the department, volunteers can intervene quickly with all that is needed and this is where you come in.

Volunteers are currently bringing their own equipment to the interventions that are undertaken. AIME65 desperately needs to raise enough money to buy safety equipment, (refective vests, jackets and trousers, safety glasses, safety shoes and gloves), rakes, shovels, pickaxes, cutters, chainsaws etc in order to be as effective as possible. As well as giving their time to the association, volunteers pay 10€ a year to be part of AIME65. Our actions have to be insured and the more volunteers there are, the more this costs. We cannot skimp and choose the cheapest option for assurance as the volunteers need to be adequately protected in case of an accident.

AIME65 is trying to raise at least 5000€ to buy the necessary euipment, pay insurance costs and fund our activities. The tools alone are going to cost in excess of 3500€, which includes a goodwill gesture from our potential suppliers.

Anybody can become a supporter of the association for 10€ per annum which helps our activity. For more information visit http://aimemeteo65.wix.com/aime65 and download the membership form. (Please add that you are part of SFN on the form so that we know where you found out about us).

Please help AIME65 to continue helping others. As we have seen by recent events around the world, natural disasters can happen anywhere to anyone. The more money we can raise, the more people we can help! Thank you!

The second team who returned a day later to finish the job.

All of the outbuildings and garage were flooded and not covered by the insurance company. The volunteers came in, emptied the areas affected, cleaned and sorted the equipment and the different buildings, cleaned up the garden and helped the owner put everything back away.

Below are a selection of photos take during the floods of the 18th June 2013 and the reason for the original creation of the group of volunteers through Meteo 65.
