Thank you, I do have cover if it happens at night, my neighbour knows my shutters are always open by midday at the latest. Otherwise I will just have to trust to luck and keep on reducing the things I love best, salt, sugar, butter and red meat. 
Thats the problem with the PSA test its not that accurate a guide. Friends has been sky high and 18 biopsies later still no cancer which is good news but surprised there is any prostate left after that.
That’s very good news. French doctors seem to be relentless in diagnosing things so it’s clear that monitoring ongoing really will mean that.

Yes, it’s a really bad test but still the best we have. In reality, it’s no more than a check engine light.

Totally agree. It is one of the strong points of the system. A UK doctor might well say come back in three weeks if still the same, but not quite the same here. And immensely grateful for it!

I don’t know how much use it is but I still don’t know if they took mine out or just chopped a bit off. They said it was too large.

I was told that it had to be my MT who applied for my ALD which I now have for both my asthma and cancer.

Ah , i feel your pain. Luckily cut out salt etc long ago. Though having said that if i have eggs they need a little salt.

What difference did that make, salt is not usually a problem until there is a lack of it. Did you change from sodium salt to potassium salt etc?

Yes i am thankful, we were seen quite quickly after initial Mri , then when biopsy scheduled , the urologist ordered another mri just before it.
I guess i just felt if the cancer is there take out the prostate. However due to the problems that can cause and as its not aggressive ( at the moment) monitoring it is.

It’s typically a slow-moving beast and, without wishing to pry, I’m assuming he’s a Gleason 6. The after effects of surgery and/or radiotherapy can be significant plus it doesn’t really get you off the rollercoaster of the stress of regular PSA checks so it’s not necessarily bad to continue on active surveillance.
I had surgery last year and that week leading up to the quarterly PSA test isn’t usually a good one, especially when PSA is back on the rise
If you do Facebook then there are some very good prostate cancer support groups.
15th for me but I was seen by a stand in. Now waiting for a date for a PSMA PET scan to see if we can find the little scamp before radiotherapy starts. Otherwise it’s hit and hope.
Don’t worry John. If it is there, a TEP scan will find it.
If not, then it’s a case of ‘remission complet’.

Unfortunately, that’s definitely not the case as PSA is rising. It’s just a question of whether it’s big enough to be found.
The PSA test is notoriously inaccurate. It is only a very general guide.
Don’t forget that PSA levels rise naturally with age, and can also be caused by an inflamed or infected prostate, or by benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Just because your PSA levels are rising, it does NOT necessarily mean that the increase is caused by cancer.
OK, so you had prostate cancer in the past but it doesn’t mean that you have it now.
Think positive. If the TEP scan can’t find it then it isn’t there.
9 yrs ago I had stage 4 Lymphoma, was about 3 days from death, and spent 10 days in ICU before 5 months of chemo. Then the TEP scan couldn’t find anything because it was simply no longer there.
Cancer is not necessarily terminal. If the TEP scan can’t find anything it’s because there is nothing to find due to your previous treatment.
Very often it can become something that you had in the past but don’t have now.
Think positive, enjoy life, and you’ll ring that bell yet.

To be pedantic, the PSA test is very accurate indeed but it’s an indicator not a diagnosis.
When you no longer have a prostate then it’s a very accurate truth teller.
Yes at producing a number for prostate specific antigen which does not correlate that well with a specific cancer prognosis any more than a calculation for LDL relates to atherosclerosis. My friends PSA went really high hence so many biopsies but no caner cells were found.
