Me too, in fact I should be inline for an award. I tried Auchan for rubber bands, and then the Presse. Neither stocked them. And that is all in this village.
Arrived next day from Amazon.
Sociable, as the queue in La Poste is, it can consume a lot of time. I recently had to return an item to Amazon. I simply had to tap in some info into my phone, take the return item as it was to the local Carrefour Contact, where it was packaged, labelled and forwarded for me. The refund was in my bank before I got home.
Sometimes the cost of the return and then processing and disposing of the item is not worth it for Amazon.
Interesting new label on the reverse of a new delivery of book
Some months ago I had another book via Amazon upon which the livreur required ‘duty tax’. My enquiry regarding this to Amazon resulted in an instant refund, of both the added ‘duty’ and the (meagre) used book price.
Whatever anyone says, and I do try to buy always from French or at least EU sellers, I find the service given by Amazon as an online retailer, exemplary.
Yes, I have bought quite a bit lately of all types of items and everything actually arrived before the original date given with no surplus charges even for crossword books in english from well known publishers. Everything well packaged and glad to see paper sacks used for items not fragile instead of those huge boxes for one tiny item.
You know you are buying too much from Amazon when a driver (who changes frequently) stops by you in the street and informs you a parcel has just been left in your boîte aux lettres
Me too, I check the alternatives and if it is possible, choose ‘local’, but sadly rarely possible these days. This is my newly arrived dog treats bag, Chinese but then so were all the suitable choices.
Listed as a ‘woman’s bag’, it has no less than 7 zippable compartments, the biggest for the treats and one other on the back for my phone. Only worn in forest and field where I see no-one else but when I return to the river field after the Spring interdiction on loose dogs, it will also hold my small wallet and car keys. Very useful as in the past, if I wasn’t wearing any pockets I had to secrete them in the car, left obviously open and in my sight, to deter miscreants.
I think the manly version of that is sold as a ‘fishing’ bag.
- The one on the left is sold as a sac à canne à pêche (bag for rods)
- The one on the right is sold as a sac de pêche. It has pockets everywhere inside and out.
Amusing read.
After 71 years of life and stuffing my pockets with all the things a man needs resulting in bent credit/debit cards from sitting on them and holed pockets from loose change for security reasons I now have a manbag.
Earlier this year while in Spain we didn’t want to leave passports in our camping car, just in case, so needed something safe to carry them in.
I bought a not too big tan leather bag which I am quite getting used to wearing.
Now it is me who has a ‘handbag’ which also carries my wife’s essentials.
If I had been told years ago that this is how things would pan out you can guess my response.
Just don’t start looking in ladie’s boutiques or lingerie shops!
Fixed that for you!
You always be this woke rubbish and called it a thembag or theybag.
Personbag™.
Our local pharmacie sells the Seresto collars. Have you tried yours?
The reference to ‘handbag’ was deliberate!
Never thought to, probably because until last year they were always bought by the various associations and sent to me in the post.
I will check next time I am in there and compare prices, they are very expensive I know.
Surely handbag is already non-gender specific? Unless you were worried about offending amputees
Well, my male and female French pals are happy to use the phrase “sac à main”… it’s simply describing the smallish bag for paperwork, wallet, bits and bobs … a very useful piece of luggage for anyone…
