Amazon prime video

I have Amazon prime which includes access to Prime Video.
My Smart TV does not list Amazon prime video on it’s apps.
The tv is connected to Wi fi . Amazon instructions say to connect via Smart Tv Apps. I’ve not got any further with this. Any ideas? Thanks.

Which model?

Usually there’s an “app store” on which you can choose extra apps - perhaps the Prime Video app needs to be installed?

Some older TVs can’t run newer streaming video apps.

An alternative is Firestick. This reference might be helpful.

My 2012ish Panasonic TV doesn’t have WiFi nor any way to add applications.

A Firestick solved this nicely, though you do get French Prime Video content if you don’t run a VPN.

Firestick for me too, now have both Netflix and Amazon Prime. Just watched all The Grand Tour and specials as did not have it before. My TV is not that new either circa 2015 I think. I don’t pay as both are add-ons to family members and works via the Free optic fibre internet box in my utility room.

I can watch French Amazon Prime content as a subscriber, on my Smart TV. It comes via the Orange Livebox, on a fibre connection. It’s one of the options at the bottom of the screen.

The “state of the art” has moved on quite a lot and I’m not surprised a 2012 set was limited. We retired our 2011 vintage Samsung as more and more apps simply stopped supporting it.

The annoying thing is that it still works perfectly well as a TV/Monitor - would be ideal for a Firestick but we now have the newer set (which has a built in Freesat tuner/decoder anyway so it is much more convenient for us).

Can you not install the Prime Video app from the TV’s app store ?
Alternatively, it might be possible to download the app from a computer onto a USB key, and then see whether your TV can read, and load the app from there (called “sideloading”, or loading from an unauthorized source, which you might have to specifically enable in the TV’s app management settings.

If you’re looking for a suitable APK (app bundle), you could try the APKpure repository/app store.

Our Sony I bought just last year - you cannot add any further apps to it.

I really would not recommend getting a, low end Sony smart TV.

At some point it will be replaced with a nice OLED with full app support.

Our Amazon Prime Video is part of the payment for “free” deliveries.
or it will be i can access it !

The App store on the TV , Toshiba, does not show Amazon Prime.
Is nothing straight forward?

It’s technology gone mad. I have only just coupled up the Internet to it.

We are not on Fibre, But we have an Orange Livebox.

There is an app store and a lot of apps are showing but not Amazon Prime
The tv is about 3 years old

Search prime not Amazon in the apps see if that helps. Pretty certain there’s no Amazon in the app name - I installed it on a Samsung so it’s in the app store

Try @chrisell’s suggestion, if not there is a link…

…to some instructions for directly downloading and installing the Prime Video apk for Toshiba Android TV (though I haven’t been able to confirm that your model is based on Android TV).

That is very good advice. The lower end TVs from Samsung and LG are much more versatile and, from the ones I’ve seen, present a better picture. High end Sonys are much better but Sony have a habit of doing things their own way, often flying in the face of common practice.

Thank you Chrisell, I will try that.

It’s not a Sony it is a Toshiba, but I get your point.

Thank you, I will try everything suggested. One would think it would be a simple process !
