Amazon.uk 2021

Yes, my bank did that 5 months ago. I now have my new shiny mastercard.

Removing credit card caps like changes in roaming charges is all happening in UK as UK no longer bound post Brexit by EU regulations…all part of Boris allowing the “market” to rule, the problem is that charges only go one way as suppliers move in concert. …and who remembers the time when BF charged a surcharge of £5 if a ferry fare was paid by credit card, about 5 years ago this was prohibited by an EU directive.
So I suggest this is correctly related to Brexit thread.

…and Visa can hike the fees because everything Amazon sells in the UK and delivers from the UK to a UK customer is …wait for it… a transaction which took place in Luxembourg.

It must have UK VAT paid on it because it’s been delivered to a UK consumer. But corporate profits from the transaction are not taxable in the UK. That’s because the transaction is done in Luxembourg.

Brexit was everything to do with this despite the denials of Amazon and Visa as it avoids the cap on interchange fees.
