After sitting in our garage for a couple of years we are planning to get our 2CV back on the road. Anyone
know any website for a new ‘hood’ and possibly other parts. Interested if you have used someone who is helpful.
Many thanks!
Can you tell us where you are (only roughly…) ??
Hi Stella, South Dordogne!
regards
how nice… I’ll be seeing some car pals over the next couple of days… I’ll ask the question…
I know that a few of 'em have fab old 2CV’s…
EDIT which year/model ??? (it’s clear I haven’t got a clue about this… )
There are quite a few body panel websites in France and you can replace everything including complete body shells in white and the chassis, if you wanted you could build a completely new car.
Of course… there is bound to be at least one 2CV Enthusiasts club in your area… why not ask around… meeting people with similar interests not only helps the language but also helps locate tried-and-trusted specialists for whatever…
Hi Stella, As far as I know it’s just a 20cv, 1968 & I think it’s a 600 enfine. Also RHD.
regards
Sorry, ‘engine’!
We had a couple in the 90s, but not in France.
IMHO these guys are the best for 2CV bits, and for rebuilt ones. I was very tempted by a 4X4 Mehari I spotted there once.
Hoods at 35% off at the moment.
Until recently I could never work out what “La Deuche” was. Of course it’s what they call a 2CV, but I got stuck on showers maybe as a translation and simply couldn’t work it out for ages
OH has reminded me that we used 4A many years ago… somewhere near Bordeaux (?)… they seem to have expanded since then.
EDIT:
Yes, it’s a good time for firms specialising in classics… Thirty years ago an interest in classic cars was niche but once they became an investment asset class everything took off. Even old cars that were rubbish when they were first built have value today.
I wonder will that all fade away as my generation which revered cars and like a good wallow in nostalgia also fades away. My daughter and her pals see vehicles as just a utility, like a fridge or a phone. I can’t see them coming over all misty eyed over a 1990 Polo or a “classic” Yaris.
Many thanks to everyone who took the time to reply, much appreciated & lots to look at!
regards
With electric coming along you can bet that every Skoda Labia and Kia Ceed that’s still running in 20 years time will be sought after for retro-vibes. Some of the absolute sheds that people were embarassed to drive when we were in our 20s go for silly money.
That’s certainly true.
