Have you watched The Poop Cruise? That has put me off going on a cruise anywhere.

I know what you mean. The last time we did it over 20 years ago, it was a total disaster.

No I havenât. But I think cruise lines are much more proactive on hygiene since Covid.

Well it showed all the sewage everywhere, the shower trays overflowing with urine and people putting red sacks of faeces in piles in corridoors to be collected. All the passengers had to make shift beds on the decks as the smell was so bad. I did read about it so true.
For a cruise that wonât disappoint (anyone but your financial advisor)

Cheerful news for today is that my (cocktail 
) kiwi plant/vine has produced fruit and itâs delicious 
Ok, they are tiny and there are only 6 of them but after years of training the plant up and over the arch into my veg patch, it is nice to have some results 
(The grapes on the other arch are good too)

Our Kiwi has produced for the first time this year. About 25 fruit still on the vine with about half the size you buy in the shops. Weâve been advised to pick them late and keep them a while before eating. Were yours ripe ?

The two we picked were but then, although they definitely tasted like kiwis, they looked nothing like and are tiny. If you havenât come across them (and I hadnât until spotting them online) theyâre theseâŠ
Only the green ones fruited this year but Iâm hopeful the red one might do something next year.

Probably a bit delicate for your climate but OK for here, although it took about 3 years before any real growth and then it exploded. Its now enormous.

Looks like yours is a âproperâ kiwi! My ex had one and it pretty well took over the garden, which is why I thought Iâd try a mini. Smooth skinned so you can just pick and eat them off the plant. Actually, there were so few of them, thatâs all that was possible this year
Yes, itâs huge but we have the space. I bought a 2.5 m tall 2 m wide steel trellis for it, and then a second one this spring. Will probably need a third one next year but itâll get a heavy prune in February.

Weâre on holiday, staying in a gite on the edge of the Foret de Chinon, in the Loire. Despite being in a beautifully converted, tastefully decorated, fully equipped gite, surrounded by a lovely landscape of pine forests, sunflower fields and vineyards, we were facing our holiday being completely spoilt.Our two dogs unfortunately keep jumping over the (very low) walls of a supposedly âsecure gardenâ, chasing after cars and joggers on the road outside, and risking injury, or worse. This was so disappointing after taking a lot of care to find a gite with âjardin closâ.
This morning, I made all the right, (truthful) diplomatic noises to Madame the gite owner, about how wonderful the gite was etc etc, but that we had a bit of problem with the dogs escaping onto the road. The Gite owner looked thoughtful, and said she hadnât considered this problem before. To her credit she immediately said âthen you must use our private, secure courtyard for your dogs to race around in, to their hearts content, whenever they want.â Problem solved, holiday, facing being spoilt - is saved, dogs will be safe between walks. My wife is very happy. All will be wellâŠ.
