New Cheerful News! That’s cheerful!
The sun is shining in Sud-Angleterre and daffodils are going “boing!” but the roadworks blokes are out in force, busy spending the county council’s budget before April 1st…
You may be surprised. When our cottage was being restored a redstart built a nest on one of the beams inside - as they are wont to do - and the builders had to move the nest (with eggs) twice. It was fine.
I’ve been enjoying the lovely weather here recently. After doing a lot of necessary jobs in the garden I decided to go out yesterday on my little motorcycle. I went to look at some Dolmen that are spread out over a fairly small area about an hour away. I visited them, took some photos then headed home via my favourite coffee and cake shop.
After that I used as many tracks and trails as I could to avoid the roads. A lovely afternoon out in the warm sunshine.
Elon Musk’s second rocket blew up.
Was he driving?
Having not eaten cheddar of any sort for around 10 years, my partner saw some in our local (tiny) village epicerie. It looked artisanal so he got some (it wasn’t orange!). It was absolutely gorgeous When he goes in again tomorrow, he’s going to ask where on earth she got it - I’d thoroughly recommend it…
Our local eLeclerc stocks a nice extra vintage, I’ll get some when you come for a visit!
Thanks @toryroo but this one was really special, so I’m curious as to where it came from!
Interesting! I never tend to notice English (or Welsh!) cheeses but my partner spotted this one because it was in a big round that you bought a chunk of. I shall keep an eye out in our SuperU in future though.
Looks like you will be paying a fair bit for that black wax rather than the cheese to me.
We have a new Super U opening in Cluny in a few days.
We shall look out for it.
Bought the exact same from a Grand Frais a few months ago.
We have been buying their truffle version, in the UK at least, very tasty if you like truffle.
We have done lots of dolmen hunting in the past. Good fun.
What a fascinating subject…about English and Welsh cheeses!
I recall that when I lived and worked in S E Asia, I had such incredible cravings for cheddar I would pay/bribe/trade anything for a slab of tasting cheese.
Before coming to France, I lived in Netherlands and found their cheeses quite frankly terrible. But here the cheeses are extraordinary and my favourites, and very like a good cheddar but in my humble view, much better are the mind blowing Salers and Cantals…,…
There…said it
Has anybody tried Llanboidy?
We used to get it from a deli in Newent many moons ago.
…what else do you long term exiles living here crave?
I haven’t lived in UK for so long the only thing I like but not necessarily would die for is a Mc Sweens Veggie Haggis…
