UK credit cards (not debit or charge cards) have Section 75 protection for transactions of value £1-£30,000. Obvs UK credit cards tend to be held by UK residents though
That’s good to know, Karen, but the OP said they had been asked to pay by bank transfer and that payment by card was not possible…

I went for a bank transfer because the company seemed plausible,. Two depots one selling timber the other stove wood and pallets.
Later after I had lost my money on the transfer I found out that the timber firm is genuine but the other one is not. I lost £480. Do not believe the so called firms that ask for bank transfer. Card payment only please.
The number of people having been ripped must be immense

as I understand it… the money goes out of your account and into another bank with which there are no “agreements”… and the goods don’t arrive…
You can’t reverse it, there is no way to get your money back.
