Establishment hit piece written by a Baronet’s daughter?

Possibly peak journalism in 2025.

Gosh, so called "celebrities " on a gossip forum bitching about being gossiped about. Who would have thought it?
However, no doubt the site owner is a scumbag.
PS. Haven’t read the guardian article, but did browse on bbc

Never heard of the site and the few minutes I spent browsing it was more than enough for me… What a bunch of sad people posting things on there.

I’m hardly a fan of celebrities or sublebrities, but I don’t spend my time moaning about what they’re up to. Are they jealous of other people’s success?

To play devils advocate for a minute, while I’m not a fan of that site at all, they do actually do a good line of investigation that the mainstream media could really get their act together and have a go at, rather than just focusing on who’s paying them and what gets the clicks.

Look at the Michelle Mone situation, it took forever for the full extent of that to come out, for years the press had been happy to portray her as some self made normal lass and give her the full might of their ability to set the public narrative. Tattle, although at a much lower level (Most of the people discussed on there are so Z list they make Mone look like an actual ā€˜someone’ :joy: ) have been very successful in highlighting some of the downright fraudulent behaviour of some of these online influencer characters.

Take for example one of these characters who bought a French chĆ¢teau and appeared on one of those Channel 4 chateau shows; they’ve been very successful in highlighting how people have paid a huge amount of money via PayPal, GoFundMe, Patreon etc to go towards refurbing this chateau, virtually all of which seems to have gone on their nice life; jetting around the world and eating at nice restaurants, while the chateau is still largely not done.

There’s another rather infamous ā€œpoverty campaignerā€ they set their target on, and largely managed to unravel a whole heap of lies, again people were paying huge sums to their person thinking it was going to specific projects or was desperately needed when again it was just just going to pay for someone to have a very nice life, to the degree that The Guardian and other big mainstream outlets had to start doing their jobs and asking questions about it.

While Tattle from what I’ve seen is to a large degree all those terrible things that people think, there does seem to be a rather impressive streak of trying to hold people in the public eye (to whatever these Z listers are) to account and trying to get bigger outlets to do so too, I can’t fault them for that part at least, even if I have had to send them more than a few letters on behalf of clients over the years…

Good question Sue, and one I think that shows that the image one projects through comments on certain topics is not a reliable indicator of the person behind the posts. I’m actually a hoot at parties :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I lead a charmed life. As for many of us there has been some tragedy along the way, but I have a wonderful wife, wonderful clever and successful daughter and son in law and a new wonderful grandson. I have no financial worries, a comfortable home in the South of France and property elsewhere. I’ve had a wonderful career, working with clever, empathic people in an organisation with ethics that one can only dream of today. I’ve had the privilege of living in some interesting countries and of having traveled to so, so many others. My health is holding up, despite having lived life flat out :face_with_hand_over_mouth: If you asked me what would I personally need to make my life better, I couldn’t answer you.

The only fly in my ointment is that there if a fuck*ng genocide going on and nobody (I’m not talking SF, I’m talking Governments) gives a shit. All this bullshit I’ve been fed since a kid about the holocaust and how dreadful it was and it’s happening again, in plain sight, perpetrated by the victims of the last one. So, shaking myself out of my ā€œI’m alright Jackā€ lifestyle I rail against it and do what little I can. As I believe we should all do.

Another little matter that floats my boat is the evil social media facilitates and, once again, the incompetence of our leaders at a country or European level to take them on. I’d never heard of the site above and was wondering of anybody else had.

Interesting. I guess it’s a balance between the benefits of vigilante investigative reporting and going nasty sods a platform.

Influencers would definitely be on my B Ark along with politicians, middle managers and chuggers.
