Anybody NOT using EDF for Electricity?

https://labellenergie.fr/pdf/grille-tarifaire-la-bellenergie-particuliers.pdf
We’ve been with EDF tarif bleu since we came here 2 years ago, but since the energy situation seems to have stabilized I was shopping around and found this company that offers fixed rates for 3 years and about 25% less than EDF. Can there be any real downside to this? The rates are locked and I can always switch back to EDF. Supposedly no interruption to service…am I missing something?

I am with Engie for the past two years after being 33 years with EDF and can say I am happy as they keep in touch, adjust monthly payments according to previous record of usage so that you do not get a large bill in January etc. People don’t change suppliers here as much as you might think because if they have to go back to one of the big ones, they feel they might get treated less favourably for their leaving. Total Energy keep emailing me to change but I am not interested.

I’m not somebody who (generally) needs a lot of customer service. I just want the power to flow. I have never contacted EDF so far.

In all our years here we’ve probably been with non EDF more than with them. They were happy to have us back a couple of years ago. I can’t see any downside if you’ve found a good deal.

We took over a contract with Sorégies, which I think must be local to Vienne. Can’t say anything about the bill yet but the customer service lady we spoke to was very helpful.

They seem to be a touch cheaper than EDF in general.

That’s reassuring — thanks!

Just tried this with my currently consumption and it says EDF Tempo is the cheapest, which is what we’re on :+1:

Yes, they serve the Vienne. They were started in Poitiers about 20 years ago and claim to be the biggest ‘local’ electricity supplier in France.

I’m on their Tempo tariff which (the last time I checked) was 5%-10% lower than EDF.

Whenever I’ve had questions I’ve either emailed or visited their local office, both of whom have dealt with the questions very rapidly and successfully.

The office in Savigne is brilliant and very helpful when we were trying to move to Tempo.

I’m with Total Energies. Their app is very good, which is all I’ve needed in the way of customer service so far. They let me have 7 kVa which the others don’t, only 6 or 9, so works out cheaper. I’ll have to do another comparison when I get round to it.

Using OctopusEnergie here. Good prices and really good customer service too : I used Octopus when in UK was also very good. Highly recommended.

Didnt know Octopus had made it to france, good to know, especially their clever tariffs for solar and ev usage.

Oh, that might well be an interesting alternative… :+1:

which part of France are you living in ??

We are in Cannes, cote d’azure

We just gave them the reference number printed on the meter.

Just one phone call and it was all done.

I am the OP who started this thread a month ago. I made the switch to Labellenergie and so far, so good. No power interruption, settled with EDF no problem. I have yet to get a full month’s bill with the new supplier , so we’ll see, but changing electricity suppliers seems even easier than mobile operators and much bigger potential savings.
