Hello! Just beginning our journey, but we are quick decision makers so won’t be long. Selling our villa in Crete to buy something in Falaise (at least that’s what’s looking great so far).

EmilyA also lived in Falaise, and surrounding area for some 20 odd years. But she returned to the UK the same week we arrived! (Which I don’t take personally).
No idea how old you are and whether you have small people too, but there are quite a few associations here including the university inter-age which has some interesting things. I have been to a French book club in the past and found it a bit odd. Everybody had read a book of their choice and then described it everyone else - who hadn’t read it themselves! Bizarre.

Oh. Everything!!! Are you enjoying it? Are local amenities good? Shops, bars etc?
My book club here is even weirder!! We all bring ALL of the books we have read that month. Give a precis, then swap them. Saves me a fortune, and I get to read all sorts of things that I would otherwise miss. May be a while before I could handle a book discussion in French though!!
I’m 68 so no little ones. Still working. Also I make/rebuild dolls houses 
We are still slightly in mourning for our old house and life on the other side of France, as this was a head move, not a heart move. But so far all has lived up to our hopes and we”re adapting. Local amenities are good, including the rarest of things a bus! Which would take us to Caen if we want city life, and a major hospital. Although so far we’ve not needed to go to find anything as it’s all here. For a town of 8,000 it is really well provided, and has doctors taking new patients.
It is posher than we’re used to, so we’ve had to up our sartorial game a bit as we’re used to being surrounded by farmers and other in well worn work clothes. But casual - just clean!
The cinema and médiathèque are great, also an aqua centre. Lots of associations to join when we have time. Cafés, bars and restaurants are friendly. People tell us that there are British people here, but we’ve not really noticed and the only two we’ve met have been here over 20 years. On hearing our accents a few people have tried to talk to us in English, but we politely ignore this.
We received a sweet welcome pack last week - only 3 months after we arrived but shows a positive intention.
And I love little things! When I was a kid I wanted a train set but wasn’t allowed as that wasn’t for girls so I built a whole tiny village and landscape and train station - just no trains. You might like this which is very close
