We had a rdv yesterday at our prefecture after 10 months waiting. We were notified by email , followed by a letter asking us to bring certain documents. The lady that processed us was pleasant and helpful. We had fingerprints taken and advised we would recieve CDS for 10 years.
They will email us and we jhave to collect them in a couple of weeks.
Sounds great. what documents did they ask for ??
Fingerprints??? FINGERPRINTS???
Yes, you need them for a carte d’identité if you are a French person, no discrimination
When you go in and complete your application, they take your fingerprints. Nothing to fear if you have nothing to hide. I expect the facial recognition doom mongers will appear with ‘big brother’ paranoia over the fingerprints … if you want to apply for a CDS and live in France you have to follow their rules
Just my index finger I seem to remember for my carte d’identité, so if you are worried just take someone else’s finger along…
And how does that work if you are not EU citizens at the beginning of November - Did she explain that you would have to or not reapply - Just interested in why you think you won’t need another one for 10 Years:confused:
How can that be great when Ian and his partner will not be EU citizens after Brexit - They will have to apply for a non-EU Carte or Titre de Sejour all over again. Their 10 month wait was for a document that won’t be worth the paper (plastic) it’s written on if Brexit happens. Great!!! - I think not.
What I have heard is that owners of existing cards will simply be able to exchange them for the new ones. So whilst getting one may be a painful process to go through, being in possession of a CDS should make life easier post Brexshit day. So yes, it’s great news!
Dan… I was happy for them. They have the outcome they have wanted.
Thankyou Catharine - What l have heard is that all Brits applying for a Non European CdS after Brexit will be able to apply on line through a simplified process - regardless of whether in possession of a current EU CdS or not. I am not, my Scottish friend is in possession of one that has still got years to run ’ The Prefecture have told us, post Brexit, we will be treated equally. As usual the Fonctionnaires will do as they please regardless of Central government edicts.
I think the point is that at dome stage, everyone has to provide the same justificatifs . If you have already done that and have a cds you won’t have to do it again. If you haven’t already done it you will have to do it now. If it be now it is not to come, as the bard said about the fall of the sparrow. Or summat like that.
Has anyone an update on this link, please ??? (re no-deal)

These are full fingerprints of each hand - fingers first of left and right grands, then thumbs together
this is surely nothing that new… I think other folk have reported that they were finger-printed…
Dan, when I went last week to hand over my 10 years worth of avis ISR, the civil servant dealing with my application told me that there would be a special application for all Brits resident in France to obtain a CDS specifically intended for them, as opposed to the normal 3rd country status.
Yes that’s what I have read. I take the point to be that if we were workkng here under FoM pre brexot, we won’t suddenly need a work permit, etc
Hi, we were asked to bring passports ,
My wife’s birth certificate and the Acte de Vente for our house . These were not sent to them originally with our documents.
Yup, taken by a little machine like a card reader.
Correct. I’ve absolutely no problem with that.
