Application for free spectacles

On behalf of an old friend in her late 70’s can someone inform me how to apply for free Bi- focal lens spectacles. If I remember M. Macron has stated, spectacles, teeth and hearing is or can be free
She has visited a local national brand shop and was informed that the procedure has’nt changed and she requires an eye test with a specialist. As I remember this costs about 40/50 euros and has a waiting list of approx 3/4 months
My other question is, if the current frames are OK can you request new lenses only.
Thank you for any constructive advice

I believe that is the correct position… your local opticien (of which ever groupe) should be able to advise you specifically… some of their options may not however be available if this is chosen… best to ask directly and obtain devis to compare.

The 100% santé offer still requires you to have a current prescription. Which needs an eye test. Sorry - but opticians need to know what glasses to give you!

Once armed with a prescription you go to and opticians and ask for 100% santé glasses. They won’t offer them as they will want to sell something much more expensive. There will only be a limited range, but if yiu have even a simple mutuelle it will then be free,
