I read somewhere that the French stay as long at the table, but they are eating a lot more frozen food so spend less time preparing it. I've noticed since I've been here that the frozen shelves have become transformed beyond recognition. Before there used to be ice-cream, frozen vegetables, and frozen meat, plus the odd, tasteless hachis parmentier or moussaka.
Now you can buy a huge variety of labour-saving packets of stir-fry and other ready meals.
