Shailiney, your stuff is amazing, and so much of it!

This my latest, and you wouldn't believe how good 'simple' feels!

I'm still not sure if we are allowed to post finished work here on the comment wall or add comments on people's work in the 'Art Gallery' section. Finished works and chatty comments seem to be a bit mutually exclusive if I understand correctly. Which I probably don't. Anyway, this is my latest, and here's an alternative reading of the same pic... cheers! It's called 'Hair of the Dog', by the way. ;~Sab

I had fun with my signature in my latest picture...

This is what it comes from, also in the gallery in a more straightforward presentation:

Just got these back from the Chemists! I visited several art galleries earlier in the year, by far the most inspiring work was this guy’s. (must dig out the leaflet! )

The canvases were some 10' tall and constructed of 'coarse' netting. The media obviously mixed with dollops of PVA. It was awe inspiring stuff!

Nicely said - made Ian and I laugh. Good write up, well done

@ Neil

It must be very gratifying to see your 'own' collection ( although I guess you would prefer not to ), unless in a retrospective. Black tape? how tacky (no pun)

You do have such a distinctive and recognisable style, your work ought to be a collectors' dream, nicely echoed in your printed items. Well done, Sir!

Thanks Ron. It's some time since I had 30 paintings all in one place. I paint round the edges to save on framing - the other two artists I exhibited with stuck black tape on the edges of theirs which is quite a common practice here. They were both rather intense and serious about their art - I felt a bit old, but I think I enjoyed the experience more than them! They both had "something to say" with their art whereas I like making pretty pictures that I hope someone will buy. We had a good writeup in the paper.

@ Neil

Your work 'ensemble' looks brilliant, very nice to see, and the 'painting round the edges' makes each piece.

Hi Neil, Thanks for that info. S

Suasan, the carsd are printed by Artcare in Norwich for which I am paid a flat fee, they specialise in images of east Anglia. I print my own cards on a HP A3 printer. Costs are around 2€ for an A4 folded to A5. I also print A3+ posters of some of the images which cost around 92. In the past I used www.printwize.co.uk for cards who print digital litho with prices from £125 for a 100 A6 cards. I have had various quotes from local printers in Pau who charge four times that! The gallery exhibit on my behalf though you can apply yourself. The problem I have is that they go on for at least a weekend or more usually 4 days.

Sab, thanks, your new works are looking interesting. Painting the edges was the most difficult part but I now use a Workmate to hold the canvas.

Hi Neil, Who did you use to print your greetings cards? Ian was going to use moo.com but there are a few things with them that he's not happy with. Congrats getting your images used...Ian used to be in the card business and its pretty tough. Also, how do you find out about art fairs in advance. Do you need to be with a gallery who will exhibit on your behalf or be invited or can you just contact them to be included.

The layout and paintings look great Neil. You definitely have your own style there. Something I’m still searching for. It’s funny the way your paintings go around the edges of the canvas - does that ever become a problem or a pain and do you pay less attention to the bits on the edges than the main painting itself? Just wondering!

Good luck with the expo Neil, your paintings look great.I'll check out your cards when theyre available.I think there must be more chance of being exhibited in the provinces than here in Paris.

Thanks Susan. Hope to get some sales as the expensive season approaches. I am also producing A3 prints and cards which will be on sale on my web site later this month. (A greetings card printer/distributor in the UK used 2 of my paintings this aummer and sales were good). An interesting point is that Marcel, the gallery owner exhibits, at the large Bordeaux wine chateaus during the year and at art fairs around the region.

Looks great Neil, well done. So far we haven't sold either at a vernissage, but have sold later on in the exhibition. Our experience is that people prefer to come back when its a bit quieter to buy, sometimes several times or with someone to give a 2nd opinion. Good luck this month and I hope you get some sales...

Vernissage at www.galeriedes7arts.fr in Castres Gironde south of B![](upload://bUgCEWv2rWGhojbJfRvEYlxnr5t.jpg)ordeaux last Thursday evening went quite well with about 60 people turning up. No sales for any of the three of us but my paintings looked good! Managed to get 31 paintings together. Exhibition is on for the next month.![](upload://l3VamZrL73uuCZErdScyLb6ddyl.jpg)What are members experiences of art expos in France?

Hi Neil, quite right about the legibility, certainly wouldn't work as a logo... Hmm the fire alarm... interesting, I supposed if the alarm installer were to call it art, who would we be to argue? Yes Sérignan is nice, the Village is pretty, and very close to the sea.

Hoping the preview went well. Looking forward to seeing the pics.

Guys in a Booth is a teeny bit difficult to read but fun Ron. Are you sure about the fire alarm? Looks like a very interesting gallery. Had my vernisage last Thursday, will report when I get the pics.

J'adore

A Marcel Duchamp @ Sérignan? Nope it's a fire alarm unit, Doh!
