Thanks kim. Never been on facebook. I’m flying to the UK in a few hours so won’t be able to do anything until later. I think my sister has an account (that’s where I’m going) - would it be OK to use hers ?
By all means use hers but ensure that she notes who she’s applying for otherwise she’ll get rejected. To be honest if you don’t have access to it when you return its not much point joining. However, if you have questions I can help you here anyway.
You need to carry your expired card and application acknowledgement, also your card is valid for 3 months after expiry here’s a link to to the legislation which you can print.
At worst your passport will be stamped but you shouldn’t need to register on the EES system as you have a card albeit expired. Your new Art50 will override any stamps.

Thanks for the help kim
. Hopefully it’ll get sorted soon, but I’m a belt and braces person so always want a plan b (and c
). I’ll do as you suggest.
I was in a similar situation in 64: I submitted 3 months in advance and heard nothing until a phone call out of the blue 2 weeks before the card expired, inviting me to come and go through the application. It hadn’t even been looked at until the moment of the rdv that lasted approx 20-30 minutes. I was then given the receipt and advised the new CdS would be made very quickly, and to expect a letter once the card is made and sent to the prefecture ready for collection.
Incredible how much variation there is between prefectures. We applied online one evening and got confirmation the following morning, made a rendezvous for the following week, had a five minute meeting and went to pick up 10 year cards two weeks later - all very smooth and simple.
And very good to see ‘permanent’ printed on the card!
Who is your prefecture as there are a few that have got it together and others that are absolute pants.
Dr Mark is in 12 Averyon Kim, which definitely seems to picking up according to the posts on your Facebook group - faster than 06 ! I think Mark and I have both speculated on the use of some AI, or at least some automated ID processing going on, though unlike 06 in most parts, 12 seems to hold to one tete a tete at least.
And also I want to take the opportunity just to say another great thanks to you et al for all your work on the Facebook group, and here also, much appreciated! ![]()
Congratulations! Now, a question I’ve been dying to ask, does also have the music bars holographed on the card like the last one, you have to angle the card against the light to see them?
I remember that the first bars of Ode to Joy were on something, can’t remember what tho’. Was it the Withdrawal Agreement CdS.
Exactement!
And I’m wondering now was it just the 5 yr TUE art 50 CDS’s or all CDS’s, in France - or even EU wide?
I always thought it was just such a nice touch (ok edit, a brilliant schadenfreude, a lovely up yours) to holograph the EU anthem onto our Brexit cards - though I’m wondering maybe it’s universal, and therefore quite right (and perfect).
Ours, Perigueux, was the same, and although only one of us was invited, as we both turned up, in ignorance, they did us both together at the same time.
Thank you, I hope we’ve made a difference to those who can access the group ![]()
It is possible the AI issue now, if they bring in the new directive from the MOI it should get even easier and quicker.
I just wished they had use ANEF rather than the scattergun approach by different prefectures, but those that decided on which systems have no idea how to use them.
Yes 12 have been one of the really good ones.
It’s exactly the same as your 5 year except it will say PERMANENT.
All Article 50 CdS cards are the same EU wide, just not in French ![]()
My 5 year card expires today. I sent a message last week asking when it may be processed. I received an email this morning saying it was being processed and another about ten minutes ago giving me an appointment at the prefecture so all is going quite quickly now. Unfortunately, my appointment is when I am in Italy on holiday in June
.
You need to email back and advise that you are unable to attend but give the a date when you are back.
For anyone attending the Agen Prefecture, there’s a bit of a system going on.
Report to the front desk on the right of the entry door and tell them who you are and why you’re here.
You’ll then be asked to wait while they organise a ticket for you. You then wait in an area to the right of the entrance door and head upstairs when your ticket number pings up on the screen by the stairs.
Paying a bill for something medical it asked for the reference number of the medical facility that provided it. The identification of most of them were in some abbreviated format. I counted 26 reference numbers on the form. ![]()
Already done @kim. Awaiting a reply. Thanks again for all your help.
Hello Kim. After the miraculous way you had with my ES > FR driving licence I now want to benefit from the CdS FB group. My CdS expires in Nov, but can never be to ahead with FR ‘docamenti’.
I have signed up on FB
I’ve had to do it on the phone app. My attempt to sign in on PC was rejected for some reason.
I have made SF something I follow [I think].
Addendum. I am now able to open the group on this PC. I cannot see where I add my ‘activity in FR’ [Survive FR]. I don’t see a link to add info on the ‘About’ info on the Group home page.
I’m trying to find a way to add my ‘activity in FR’ to my FB profile but can’t see how to do it.
FB is a rat’s nest. I’ve dumped it in the past but the CdS group is a must-have.
I have clicked ‘Join Group’ of course but what happens now?
This is the link to the group, there are 3 questions, but ensure you at least answer the what Art50 and dept no. Also in the next section put Survive France, Kim sent me.
