After the short lived freedom of the abolition of tax habitation the saving is diminishing.
Just opened todays post and out popped SMD3 facture for our rubbish service,if that is what it could be called?
109.00 abonnement and 135.70 forfait for 2 people.
244.70 payable in 30 days.
The service is not worth the paper the facture is printed on.
Have to laugh… or else I’ll cry…
It was a few years ago, when this was being “offered” to Communes… promises were made that folk would be paying less for SMD3 than they were currently paying for the Ordure collections which was part of their Tax Fonciere bill…
grrrr… it ain’t worked out quite like that… and the “service” is rubbish… (no pun intended)
We feel the same Stella, especially when faced with the multiple bags abandoned next to the bins every time I visit. The whole project is a total disaster and will hopefully crash and burn in a big financial disaster which the Mairie will have to explain to their residents.
Can’t always blame the Mairie…
SMD3 and their ilk… are very plausible and sometimes (in my opinion) heavyhanded towards the small communes.
Well in this case its the Mairie who has signed up all the members of the commune, along with rumour of lots of dodgy financial goings on in SMD3 involving some of those Mairies … So they do have a responsibility and will end up likely having to be involved in sorting the issues on behalf of their communes.
In my area… I was part of a group involved at the beginning… I know what was promised us by SMD3 (face to face)… I raised certain queries and received satisfactory promises from them… all looked good… huh… aaaargh.
Off subject a bit but just watched the journal and a commune in 22 has been targetted by scammers going round and asking for money for people’s bins to be emptied and they need to pay on the spot. The Maire came on and said, people are not to pay anything, they already do via their TF but unfortunately its the elderly who are being targetted and they tend to get worried and pay up. I think it was only a small sum like €10 but if the arnaquer visits 20 victims, he is making €200 a time. There are some real nasties out there now and I bet its for drugs.
And inserted penalty clauses in the contract?
This was at a Questions and Answers meeting, at which communes (from all over the place) were represented… the hall was packed and we used microphones so everyone could follow what was being said/discussed…
Sadly… we were given nothing in writing by SMD3… they merely answered our questions to our satisfaction… all seemed well. (huh)
I stood up, asked my question and was given an answer…
In effect I was assured that one would only be billed by weight, for what one threw away… definitely assured that the less one put in the black bag, the less one would pay.
I was assured me that my black bag would be weighed and I would be charged accordingly…
telling 'em that I rarely throw stuff in black bag, I was assured I wouldn’t be paying much… (hilarious, looking back at how naive we were… )
As I’ve only used my SMD3 card for “black bag” twice (and 1 was for a friend who’d run out of freebies) I should be paying more or less zilch… but, sadly that is not the case.
It does seem that new arrangements in many communes are unsatisfactory - ours starts in the Autumn so I’m waiting to see,
But John B!s example is less than €0.70 a day so if that also includes all the other services provided like running the déchèterie then it doesn’t’ seem excessive.
I think that all the Com Coms which were set up to save money are, in fact, costing us more.
They are setting up new offices at our side of the Com Com at a huge cost and now we have new roadside markers on each of of the roads into the commune saying that you are now entering Trivy.
What a waste of money!
It was SMD3 who hosted this Meeting and gave everyone their blithe replies…
I can understand why so many small Communes eventually signed up to the proposal… as they were not in a position to finance their own Waste Disposal…
I don’t blame our Maire who was doing his best for his Citizens, but SMD3 forced him to accept the “general bins” rather than the Door-to-Door which he asked for.
Ours is a widespread population and a good three-quarters of our citizens really do need door-to-door.
Now, folk find they’re paying more than before, for an inferior service…
and they have to use their cars in order to dispose of their bits and bobs…
and then they find the Bins are full!!! aaargh
Job for this morning was to take our rubbish to the bins.
Yellow bins both already full, black bin didnt want to recognise my card and it seems I am not the only one.
The bins inn the following photo are outside our Mairie which you can see in the background.
Surely tge system is already broken and not fit for purpose.
I drove a further 4 kilometer round trip to find a bin with enough room for my rubbish.
As bin nan bin mam?
Not in our commune.
