Hi Everyone
I posted this on the auto-entrepeneur group page and they recommended posting it here also. Hopefully some of you can help me out.
My husband and and I are both Australian and European citizens so no VISA requirements but have only ever worked in Australia. Any help would be appreciated. We just want to know where we stand and if it is doable BEFORE we move and then find out we need to do something else.
I tried sending the below e-mail on the website lautoentrepeneur.fr site but it only gets to the page where I put the text in but then does not let me send. If anyone can provide an e-mail address that I can send from my e-mail account rather than via their website it would be much appreciated. In the meantime maybe some of you can answer some of the queries I have noted in my e-mail to them. I have posted here in English however I had translated it to French for them.
"Dear Sir / Madam
My husband and I currently live in Australia, but have a house in France . Our house has a separate bedroom with bathroom . We wish to establish a business as an auto-entrepeneur running a chambre d'hotes
There is only one room and went to sleep 2-3 people. We will provide breakfast .
How long do we need to be in France before we can establish the business? We are looking to move to France in the coming years .
Can we set up the auto-entrepeneur chambres d'hotes business and then do a renovation of the room before we hire it out?
Will both my husband and I be eligible for the health care that comes from the Social Security now or do we need to wait until we start getting business?
Is this just one person who runs the business as the entrepreneur - I read that it is better to have it in the name of one person and add the other as a dependent otherwise we will be charged higher costs.
Do we need to register the business and what does it cost to do so? I know we have to let the local marie know about what we are doing .
Do we need a license to run this as we are serving food and drink for breakfast?
Will this affect the tax d'habitation and tax fonciere or will they remain as is?
What type of insurance will we need?
Any other advice you could give would be greatly appreciated."
I know that you can only earn a certain amount per year with figures of around 30,000 and 80,000 showing up a lot - I am not sure why there is a lower figure and a higher figure. I know that you pay 12% to 15% (varies from each website I look at) to social security which gets you the health cover - do you pay additional tax on top of this?
Many thanks for all your help guys and girls
J
