I have some granite worktops in my barn that anyone is welcome to collect free of charge. I’m in 87. I accidentally bought a second hand kitchen. It had been superbly fitted with everything glued. Impossible to take apart!! In the end I managed to salvage some bits including these worktops.
I went and got a new kitchen from Castorama for the studio. So just want to clear the space.
Hi, just another quick question about bamboo kitchen countertops… At Castorama, they sell countertops like this.
The edges are not rounded, and the corner is sharp, I wondered if anyone has cut the edges on anything like this. Bamboo is a type of material that might require special cutting technique, given that it’s not wood per se, but I think more fibrous?
I believe that you can cut bamboo worktops exactly the same as any other wooden (or laminated) worktop. Use a fine jigsaw blade to round the corner, then finish with (ideally) a router.
Thanks, Gedibois looks great, even better than Castorama. Only problem will be getting to the store, as the closest is a couple of hours away. But it looks to be worth it.
I tried to locate a distributor for MOSO bamboo in France. Unfortunately, the one I found is now closed as of February 3. But for your purposes in Germany, I imagine you’ll have greater success.
Bamboo is incredibly tough, a fine blade run slightly too fast will get very hot and fail remarkably quickly. Even Tungsten carbide struggles. On the hotel refits we worked on the carpenters got through so many blades and we had to turn off the fire system whilst they worked.
